#1 Eric: "Attacks: If a war opponent is within XP range, on your Guilds War Rival list or in your Rival List, you can attack that player 5 times before you reach your daily limit for that opponent. ~~ Points are only credited to the attacker."
#5 Kendall: "The 5-attack limit only counts when a player is out of your normal range and has not attacked you directly but has attacked someone in your guild. It will open up your rivals.
No bounty traps and counters do not add points, but they will still work in a Guild War attack."
#12 Kendall: " Originally Posted by polishpimp

Yes it does."
#134 Kendall: "A higher level can only attack a lower level if they have attacked someone in their Guild."
#120 Atheistic Satanist: "as said before, the rules were made CRYSTAL clear"
After that bit of fun I have to say I agree with Erik in #201, in that the whole concept is totally flawed.
This is evidenced by the fact that of the 1,000 guilds that are eligible to participate in guild wars barely 30 have done so to any significant degree. Take away the War Points aspect and there is very little difference compared to what players can already do (more or less). For example, place on war rivals list = attack back then hit the 'ask for help' button.
As stated in the original post we were targeting a specific group with this feature, those looking for an enhanced PVP experience which is far from the majority of the guilds out there, it was looking to benefit the majority of the guilds that have complained about "Guild" Bullying in that this feature was not for them but instead those Guilds that have been going to war (after them) in an unsanctioned event which lead to us introducing privacy, excerpt from original post:
What issues were we looking to address with this feature?
We wanted to address player complaints about PVP fighting being neglected. With additions of challenges and bosses, many players felt that we have been ignoring PVP fights (attacks, slaps, bounties). Increase PVP opponents for those looking for more.
We wanted to address complaints from players that they were being over attacked / bullied by other players.
Better align players in a Guild with their interests in the game (boss killing, PVP fighting, etc). There has always been a grey area with respect to Guilds, some use it for wars, others use it to meet new players, others use it to work together to get gamer points, others use it for additional help, and some use for all of the above. The grey area has caused issues which was the reason for us adding in Guild privacy in the past.
Instead of wasting time on this what they should have been working on is fixing the battle list. With monthly traffic of around 40,000 why is it so difficult for the high level player to maintain a populated battle list and if you can't do that I'm sure some kind of handicapping arrangement could be arranged. I'm sure even Polishpimp would accept the idea of a fair fight, once in a blue moon, if it gave them the chance to fight a real viking (as opposed to a Valhalla offering)
To have more healthy opponents on players at higher levels, we would either have to further modify health regen to increase faster or change other longstanding rules within the games (decrease max dmg percentage, hospital health percentage, etc), adjusting things like that tend to not go over well.
The feature that everyone was clamouring for was Guild vs Guild not Player vs Guild. I suppose that was why there was so much initial confusion in the 2 days from the announcement of Guild Wars until the actual start (well for all of us who did little more than read the forums news and updates anyway). All those players stupidly thinking that a Guild War was anything to do with a war between guilds. I suppose the thinking behind the name was that, "A feature where, if you are in a war guild, you can attack someone from a different war guild then everyone from that war guild is allowed to attack you and everyone get points attacking but not defending and the guild who's players have spent the most time, effort and coins getting these points tops the war leaderboard when the war season finishes at the, as yet, unannounced end date", wouldn't roll off the tongue as easily.
Guild Wars is an open battle arena of other Guild members that are at war fighting it out for war points as you mentioned above, the Guild with the most War Points at the end of the season is the winner. A Guild vs Guild is something that we did consider but there were too many issues when looking to determine a winner at the end of the season, that being sad this may be a future option and may factor into earning War Points but having an open battle arena of Guilds vs Guilds seemed like the fairest competition.
I know that some of the (at max.) 750 in the 30 guilds have been very vocal in their desire to be able to get at low-level players in order to dominate and humiliate them, but you must also cater for the silent (and overwelming vast) majority too.
This feature was built to give those guilds that were looking for a PVP competition in battling for their Guild that have been vocal about not being interested in GP's and/or the game ignoring the PVP battling aspect.
With the recent changes added, attacking / punching within the War Points limits against an opponent will not add you to your opponents personal rival list but it will still add you to the Guilds war rival list (after all it is a Guild War and other members of the guild should be able to retaliate to defend their members) and only allowing the reward of points for bountying players within a set range should help balance this feature for those lower level PVP players that want to get involved.
