Does anyone know what weapon(s) unlock in Jotunheim?

 

-Take the Wisdom of Mimir, lvl 520 adventure, rock giant (warrior) random drop
-Charge the River Slith, lvl 540 adventure, slith blade (weapon) random drop
-Destroy Seafaring Jotun, lvl 560 adventure, giant piranha (weapon) random drop
-Hunt Creatures of the Iron Wood, lvl 580 adventure, shapeshifter (warrior) random drop
-Raid the Great City of Utgard, lvl 600 adventure, utgard guard (warrior) random drop
-Rock Giant, jotunheim boss, unlocks with lvl 5 yeti kill achievement, jotunheim location, Take the Wisdom of Mimir x40 achievement. (plausibly unlocked at 520. i unlocked him at about 525 i think.)

no rune challenge, no world boss. am i missing anything?

Ingredients and Stats

Giantsbane - 46Atk / 46Def
This recipe is 2 non-gifts and a gift, correct?
GIFT + (level 600 unlock item) + OTHER NON-GIFT
At level 600, you are allowed to buy the Surtr Fire Sword and can do the adventure "Raid the Great City of Utgard" to earn Utgard Guard.

So we choose from 1 of 2 level 600 items, a gift, and some other Jotunheim item.
The items unlocked in Jotunheim at or before level 600 are:
Adventures

• Rock Giant (2 Rock Giants and 2 Shapeshifters make 1 Goliath) - (I don't have this one)
• Slith Blade - 34Atk / 40Def
• Giant Piranha (1 Giant Piranha and 1 Surtr Fire Sword and 1 Torch make 1 Giant's Blade) - 33Atk / 41Def
• Shapeshifter (2 Shapeshifters and 2 Rock Giants make 1 Goliath) - 25Atk / 21Def
• Utgard Guard - 25Atk / 28Def

Rock Giant

• Rock Tunic - 35Atk / 40Def
• Rock Giant Club - 44Atk / 40Def
• Rock Giant Sword - 46Atk / 42Def
• Rock Giant Hammer - 42Atk / 38Def

Purchases

• Vidar Berserker - 25Atk / 23Def (unlocked at level 480?)
• Broken Sword of Sigmund - 38Atk / 36Def (unlocked at 460?)
• Surtr Fire Sword (1 Surtr Fire Sword and 1 Giant Piranha and 1 Torch make 1 Giant's Blade) - 40Atk / 38Def (unlocked at level 600)

If Surtr Fire Sword is used, I seriously doubt the Broken Sword of Sigmund will be used as well. But since that item is used in another recipe, I doubt it.

Number of Combinations:
1 (Utgard Guard since SFS is already used) * number of gifts * 7 (8 total - 1 at level 600)
The number of gifts is over 40, so the combinations are +280.


EDIT: I counted 52 gifts, not including the March gifts (they came out AFTER the newest recipes), and also ignoring the various Secret Gifts. So we have 364 combinations to try.

It would also make sense if Giantsbane uses Giant's blade... In fact I think it is the only good level 600 candidate I've seen - The world boss items are too powerfull, the fire sword was just used in the previous recipe and the Utgard Guard is not a weapon. So my best guess is that we are looking at

Giant's Blade + (Jotunaheim Boss Drop, 4 choices) + (gift, ~50 choices)

I tried this pattern with the gifts

thor's hammer
war belt

since they associate with giants, but failed. Now waiting for someone to send me the loin cloth and other barbarian kind of items.

 

Loincloth is a March gift. It was released after the new recipes. And there may be a connection to the gift that we just don't realize at the moment...
I actually hasn't considered the Giant's Blade. It *does* unlock at level 600...Do we *know* the other item is a Boss Drop?

 

no, could be anything - but the boss drops seem more likely somehow.

 

Can the Rock Giant Sword be eliminated because it's attack value is the same as the Giantsbane?

I think I will have time to run through another set tomorrow night.

 

Nope. RGS defense value is lower than GB? Then it can be used. And an item with a higher value in ONE of the two slots (attack/defense) can still be used, if the other slot is lower.

 

The loincloth can be eliminated from the recipe.

Giants Blade + (All 4 Rock Giant drops) + loincloth = fail

 

I think it uses Bane Skewer

if anyone'd care to pitch in, just repost this list with some new gifts you have tried together with each of the possible boss drops. I'll try to do one or two a day.

 

i just hit 592 today so i havent been able to do any work on this thing yet.

point of observation: has anyone done work with either of the lvl 600 world boss drops? either the fjorgyn battle axe or the bane skewer? after the headache the skyshine blade caused, the world drops feel like the right place to start.

there was one other post that MENTIONED the bane skewer but, it seemed more of an inquiry than a "these are the trials i did with the bane skewer" post.

I think you got used for a post-count increase.

Before your initial question, the only time those 2 items had been mentioned was a single post - along the lines of "I have a guess and I think it uses the Bane Skewer." That is it.

 

I wrote before that the lvl 600 world boss drops are not candidates as their stats are more powerfull than the object we are trying to create (ok, not in so many words, but it is there).

 

I am REALLY getting tired of saying this: Loincloth, Scroll, Moon Stone, Solar Eclipse Medallion (aka "March Gifts") are NOT going to be used! The *new* recipes were released in FEBRUARY! SIMPLE-SIMPLE-SIMPLE

Bane Skewer has 54 Attack and Defense, the same as the Fjorgyn Battleaxe. That is too strong. The Giant's Blade has 41 Attack and 44 Defense, which is not too strong and thus can be used.


The 4 boss drop items are:

• Rock Giant Hammer - 42 Attack / 38 Defense
• Rock Giant Sword - 46 Attack / 42 Defense
• Rock Giant Club - 44 Attack / 40 Defense
• Rock Tunic - 35 Attack / 40 Defense

Since the Giantsbane's power is 46 Attack and 46 Defense, all of those items are eligible.
