So if you're at war, you're going to read the word bully to the opposing side and what it means?

    Pirate is a war game.

Bottom line,in a fighting war game, there is NO such thing as a bully as cleared up by Kano.

Kano obviously knows their own games, disagree all ya want but fact is no such thing as a bully in a game.

OK....I'll bite, hell ...I'll even buy in......by definition there is indeed "bullying" in the games, its rampart, it happens tens of thousands of times in every game, every day on every platform.

Oh...but there is something else....These games are designed to be "bully" games as was clearly pointed out by the definition of "bully" (especially the "pimp" part...lol). I suppose u could call these games a lot of things according to their definitions, things like war games, fighting, violence, masochist etc etc etc . My point being that all these things are suppose to happen and the game is designed in such away as to promote them and reward it. So what are we actually debating here? The way the word "bully" is being used? If we remove all the aspects /definitions of bullying from the games.....what would be left?

Its all about whooping ass when and where ever ya can folks, its also about making choices to limit the ass whoopns we receive...its what its all about!

I suppose we could tag boxing, mma, football and a host of other games and sports "bullying" as well, after all....these games are violent and opponents are trying to impose their will on one another both through strategy and physical force within the limits set forth by their respective governing bodies. Sure...both sides voluntarily entered the ring/field but didnt we as well? A boxer doesnt want to be hit...they want to be delivering the blows. Boxers do what they can to defend themselves....but that doesnt always work. In the end someones getting their ass kicked against their will are they not? I guess it could be argued that a boxer could "throw in the towel" or the ref could stop the fight f its getting out of control....but dont we have the same thing? Kano is our ref, we can quit or log off anytime we want and we can choose to fight yet another day. Boxing has a scoring system based on points for hitting someone much like we have stats like attacks, kills and slaps, the more points/stats the better...no? The more a boxer kicks ass the higher ranking they achieve...no?

So call it whatever u want....but in the end its what its all about and without it there wouldnt be these games. As stated previously...there is the rare instances when things go to far....a "low blow" if u will, but thats what the ref/kano is for. Telling players that going after other players as often and tenaciously as they can in a "bully" game is a bad thing would be akin to telling Jared Allen of the Minnesota Vikings to stop or ease up on going after Aaron Rodgers of the green bay packers because Aaron doesnt like being sacked.

So "bully" on my fellow Vikings, Pirates, Zombies and Mobsters...See ya on the leader boards!

Another quick note...I think Kano was spot on by changing the terminology to "griefing", because the way the term "bullying" was being used gave off negative connotations in a game where the act of bullying is expected promoted and rewarded

The OP asked "WHAT is a bully in a fighting game?" He did not ask, IS attacking, placing bounty's or smack talk, bullying in a fighting game? Had he asked that, my stand would be completely different.

IMO, anyone who changes their pirate name/armadas or make comments on an open feed to harm people less fortunate then themselves, albeit because the "bully" discovered that these people have, poor health, their appearance may not be what is considered perfect, they struggle with their income or they have a loss of a child OR pet!, IS a bully!

A bully is a coward who feels the need to resort to these types of tactics in hopes their target(s) quit. And all because his or her chosen target(s) does well at a game? or they may disagree with the bully's demands? or they don't take their word as, God? These are the things that go on daily IN the game!

One would think that a moderator would have more decorum than to call, people "sheeple" Regardless of your opinion, have some respect for the community and for the position you maintain.

Yes that stuff always goes on with these kinds of games, I see people telling others if you don't declan and get out of that armada I am gonna make you . blah blah blah, and actually unless a person feels like a victim ,all the time in life a person is gonna see it this way, but I who have been bullied in real life since I was a kid here and there, have come to a place where I see it for what it is a coward, is a bully in disguise, and when I see people act this way by demanding these things of others , I really have to laugh at the person making the demands, But there are plenty of fun and enjoyable games on the internet that can take up your time and where you are playing against the computer, and no drama, there are always alternatives , if a person can not rise above feeling badly, cutting their losses and moving on to a game that provides fun and relaxation might be a better choice, ya gotta be thick skinned for these types of games, some days I feel thin skinned and want to give up, but then I think Nah so I thicken up my skin with the help of friends encouraging me and supporting me, I get about the business of stronger to kick their butt and I DO. :)

I call anyone sheeple who follow blindly, here there and everywhere, and I am a player first and entitled to my opinion and I called no one names in this thread, it was a very general statement, kind of like you calling players bully.

Bottom line there is no bullying in a fighting game, maybe outside of the game but not in the game.

Gotta agree with Linda on this one.

Albeit unfortunate that there are players that use these tactics....its just psychological warfare on a PVP game and we all know that "war is hell" and any reasonable person should expect it on a competitive internet social networking PVP fighting game.

There is much more subtle forms of this well that most players use in some form or fashion, like lying for example....does make it any less or worse?

In the end....people that use personal information about others to purposely hurt them SUCK, Not to be harsh...but the reality of it is ....its a cold hard world out there and people shouldnt be divulging info like that, theyve nobody to blame but themselves. If it gets to much to bare...unfortunately they should try something else. If its really so troubling...I dont see why that would be such a tough choice.

Believe me, Linda...my skin is very thick! I am still here and still standing up for those who I do believe are bullied in what simply should be an attack game.

Coming up in the game I had my butt handed to me on a silver platter. Did I resort to the things I mentioned? NO! I did exactly as you suggest, built a strong pirate and turned the events. BTW the ones who beat my pirate senseless never once resorted to bully behavior. To this day, I hold them in the utmost respect because they play a hard but clean game. They GET that you don't have to resort to cruelty to beat their opponents.

Out of respect for someone who is close to both you and I, I will make no comment other than to say, I disagree. Have a nice day.

Well of course there are players that don't play a clean game, but that is the nature of people , whether it is a game or in their real life, I know at the end of my game day I played with as much honor and integrity I was able to muster in spite of them, and held my own against those that don't and that is a reward on a personal level for me. But I do often wonder how some people can look at them selves in the mirror everyday.
