TGIF! What happened this past week in Dev and Community? Player Bans October 11 - October 17 As a reminder, the following numbers are permanently frozen accounts, and don't count temporary freezes. KPs2: 1 The majority of permanently frozen accounts are frozen for being a shared or alternate account. This is something we actively investigate, and we appreciate players reporting suspicious accounts to us. If you have any questions or comments about a frozen account, please direct them through Support as the Forums are not the place to discuss account freezes, because of the sensitive account information involved. This week's super fun and interesting Support fact is about those mysterious and elusive creatures oft known as Kano employee accounts. As a person who loves to play games, I can attest to that working in for a company that makes them is pretty rad. However there is a downside: making a game your job means that you never really get to enjoy it the way your audience does. Many of the mechanics that make the game fun to play don't apply to you because you know how they work and are testing them all the time to make sure they ARE working. Some players feel like we don't play and can't understand what is going on from their perspective. The truth is that most of us are online regularly doing relatively boring things to evaluate performance or check for issues, and not focusing on leveling or competing against other players. Ultimately we can't experience the features and content we create the say we you do or explore them as deeply; this is is one of many reasons why feedback and engagement with you guys is so crucial. If you do happen to run across a Kano/Apps staff account, you are certainly welcome to beat the stuffing out of it as you see fit, these are fighting games after all. We are pretty busy most the time though and probably won't respond. Some of them are also a bit Frankenstein's Monsterish from being messed with over and over again (apparently my level 60 character if Facebook Zombie slayer was showing up on level 2000+ fight lists last week) if you notice anything odd like this, just let us know and we'll make sure we fix them up so they don't throw people for a loop. Cheers, Aardvark Terrible Joke of the Week I've got nothing witty to say about this week's joke. How did the artist paint the picture? Easel-y. ← Highlight for hilarity! I'm not exactly sure what to say about that joke, either, but as an artist, I commend the effort ... LOL!! So, can we know the names of these KANO employee characters? I would love to spar with them! There are so many hit-and-hiders, so I think y'all would be fun to play with!
It really annoys me when people say that this is a fighting game. Yes, we fight - some of us do it excessively - but look at what you named it. I love the game and am intensively involved in it, but the name of this one is Pirate CLAN, not Pirate WARS. When I played Mafia Wars, I knew going into it that it was a fighting game so I knew what to expect and didn't stay for long.
These games are fighting games, they used to be exclusively fighting games when they started but they still completely revolve around the fighting aspect, without it the games would cease to exist as the fighting aspect is at their very core. All the fluff stuff was added after the fact and was merely intended to supplement the fighting aspect. I guess the names could be slightly misleading but It takes about 2 seconds after signing up for these games to realize what they are all about. Kano actually does a pretty good job of explaining all that at the start of the games. Personally....I think the subject matter itself pretty much speaks for itself, Vikings, Pirates, Zombies and Mobsters dont exactly have peace loving reputations....lol
Blackbeard was actually known for his scary demeanor which allowed him to plunder ships and towns without taking a shot. He would light tiny fuses and put them in his beard so it gave the impression that his head was surrounded by supernatural smoke. Because of this, he was able to intimidate many a ship's captain who would have otherwise put up a fight. He was definitely the exception to the rule as most pirates were bloodthirsty cut-throats who often took ships by force. Just a little bit of pirate trivia!
No Bs? thats a cool bit of trivia, ty Mitch Looking at a few of the avatars we have out there...i think we have a few that might be able to pull that off as well
