TGIF! What happened this past week in Dev and Community? New Limited Items! A new week means new Limited Items! Here’s what’s up for grabs: A Request from Kano Community Member Ann Manka A long-time Mob Wars: La Cosa Nostra player has requested the help of the Kano Apps community. Ann Manka is the adoptive parent of two children with spina bifida and she's going through a bit of a rough patch. One of her kids, Nolan, requires a powered wheelchair that his insurance won't cover. Along with that, her current vehicle isn't suitable for transporting the wheelchairs her family requires. If you feel so inclined, take a look at Ann's full story here: http://www.mobilityawarenessmonth.com/entrant/ann-manka-wilton-wi/#.UyGEUpdqvQk.facebook and vote for her, that would be an amazing help to her family. She's also running a fundraising effort for her son Nolan, which you can view here:http://www.gofundme.com/6y8ggc Support Report with your favorite burrowing, nocturnal mammal and Answerpreneur, Aardvark! Bon Vendredi! We've been working through some chat issues this week: There seems to be the odd person on Kano Play who has trouble muting players, and Kongregate users have had trouble creating Private Groups that actually are private. If you've noticed these issues yourself, please bear with us, we're working on getting them sorted. In other news, I thought I'd touch on a few interesting (and incorrect) assumptions we encounter about the team from time to time. This might be old news to some of you, but in interest of transparency here it is anyway: Kano/Apps is just some dude locked in a basement somewhere. No, there is no "Mr Kano." Kano is the name of a game development studio employing about 17-20 men and women, depending on whether you are including contractors. The company was founded by three friends who went to university together, none of whom are actually called Kano. The company name was inspired by this guy --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kano_(Mortal_Kombat) Kano/Apps is giant, publicly-traded, unfeeling megacorporation. Erm, no. See previous statement. Kano is small, home-grown, and owned entirely by the same three guys who founded it and still lead the team today. We are a bootstrap organization, meaning there are no external investors, no board of directors, and no business loans hanging over our head. We have no intention of ever changing this and are committed to growing the business by making the best games we can. We make a point of not operating the way some big jerky companies do *coughzyngacough*, and it makes us sad when people think that we are like them. Cheers, Aardvark who has been dared to jump into a very cold lake next week. *shakes fist at TinyMob Games* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSuxvQkePts&feature=youtu.be Terrible Joke of the Week Here's your lame joke of the week! Did you hear the one about the fruit on trial? He was judged by a jury of his pears. ← Highlight for hilarity! That's it for TGIF this week, everybody!
