TGIF! What happened this past week in Dev and Community? Player Bans January 31 - February 7 As a reminder, the following numbers are permanently frozen accounts, and don't count temporary freezes. FB: 5 KPs2: 2 The majority of permanently frozen accounts are frozen for being a shared or alternate account. This is something we actively investigate, and we appreciate players reporting suspicious accounts to us. If you have any questions or comments about a frozen account, please direct them through Support as the Forums are not the place to discuss account freezes, because of the sensitive account information involved. New Limited Items! A new week means new Limited Items! Here’s what’s up for grabs: Browser Extension Exploit Warning In our ongoing effort to tighten our iron fist around cheaters, our developers have discovered a couple of browser extensions that allow players to automate some parts of the game. This is just a reminder that aides and scripts are against the Terms of Use and are not allowed. Additionally, third-party programs such as extensions, executables or whatever are often harmful to your computer and personal information. You don’t know what kind of malware is hidden in there, like data miners or keyloggers, so it’s best to just avoid them altogether. We’ve already started taking action against accounts that have been using these extensions. If you are using them and have not been contacted yet, that doesn’t mean that you’re safe. We will catch everyone using these extensions, so if you are currently running one, disable it now. Thanks! Integrated Kongregate/Armor Chat! This week we released an integrated Chat for Kongregate and Armor Games. Check out the details here! Special Three-Day Valentine’s Day Calendar! Forget your Valentine's Day obligations, it's time for this month's Three-Day Calendar! It starts today and ends on February 17 at 10:00 am PST. Support Report with your favorite burrowing, nocturnal mammal and Answerpreneur, Aardvark! Happy VD, players! ...Which stands for Valentine's Day, of course. Go soap your brain, you filthy animal. It's been a short week, so we've pretty much been focused on playing catch up. However as always I do a quick reminder: If you have an issue with your game, we need to talk to you directly. It's lovely when you have the support of friends and family who are happy to pitch in and contact Support about your issue, but we can't discuss any account information with someone other than the owner which can make gathering information and troubleshooting very slow and difficult. If you are finding the Ticketing system difficult, let mi7ch or any Kano staff member or mod know and we will make sure we have a way to get in contact with you. Cheers, Aardvark who believes the Caps Lock key should be disabled or removed from every keyboard. Terrible Joke of the Week Here's your lame joke of the week! What do you call an alligator that reads maps? A navigator. ← Highlight for hilarity! That's it for TGIF this week, everybody! Thanks for reading, and have an excellent weekend! Play Now! Hey mi7ch, Just curious, is there any update on when the crafting for higher levels will be available for the last few new Bosses? Also, is a new land coming anytime soon?
"In our ongoing effort to tighten our iron fist around cheaters, our developers have discovered a couple of browser extensions that allow players to automate some parts of the game. This is just a reminder that aides and scripts are against the Terms of Use and are not allowed." Q1) What are the penalties for cheating? While you can say these things are not allowed, apparently you catch people and merely suspend them. Why do you not ban them entirely? Q2) If you do catch them, do you suspend them for 1 week and allow their game characters to continue to accrue income? So its 1 week off with pay? Or do you shut off their account so there is not game gold waiting for them to invest when their account is returned to them? 3) Do you let them keep the levels they gained, bounty and stats during their breach of the TOU? If so, why, and in what cases will you remove a player entirely? Can you set them back say 10% of their "everything" or 20%, or as in the early days of this game, reset them to level 1 and let the rest of the players take care of them? Is that still done? In light of bounty restrictions, the new level 1, would be at Level 300, with nothing. Q4) If someone is caught cheating, and is banned (not reset), will this be indicated: "This account is no longer available" ? This is the same indication of a person who has asked Kano to disable their account at their request, leaving in doubt to others whether they cheated and were caught (enemies) or they asked to withdraw on their own (friends). My own opinion: reset the cheats Kano is banning to Level 300.
As always, thanks for the feedback Kel. Accounts that are found to be breaking the Terms of Use in this area are dealt with on a case by case basis. Each snowflake is unique. I can't answer your questions specifically because that is between Support, the devs and the account in question. When we catch accounts using exploits we do take away anything they accrued during that time. An example of this is when players were using a glitch to grind Jobs in LCN; we caught those players, removed their progress and froze them. Sorry I can't provide you with more detailed explanations to your questions, but we're doing what we can to remove cheating and keep the game fair for everyone.
To remove cheating but not the players who cheat, is the interpretation here: deeds speak. I am sorry you cannot commit to serious penalties for the cheating observable in your game - my reports even today, that one cheated who was suspended recently is now avoiding the bounty lists while healing and hitting using automation for same. Odd or not, his amazing bounty feats in the past have disappeared. And now there are 3 formerly amazing players who can't seem to find the bounty button while healing, who could snipe guild to guild bounties with amazing skill before, but now who can't shag nothing. Says a lot about their incomes from bounties eh? And their stats from bounties they got? They kept both of those while now what, waiting in fear of the last warning or the second last warning to fall, if there is one? I find the whole thing pathetic. Can't wait for the end of snow, in many ways.
Well, depending on how the last ticket I turned in on a couple of your snowflakes will determine if I continue to play regularly or not.
I wouldn't worry about it. I got banned last week for comments I posted to my feed for my clan members to see. I guess one of them was offended and reported me (?) It seems this is more important than looking into players that may actually be cheating playing the game. I wouldn't get your hopes up on any tickets that you submit for review, but you never know...
