TGIF! Fall has finally arrived here in Victoria, and it's arrived with a vengeance. It is cold, cloudy, and damp, and I look forward to some deliciously warm home-made soup later on. Enough complaints about the weather, let's take a look at the past week! Attack and Defense profile display bug We fixed a bug this week that affected how attack and defense numbers were showing in the user tab of your profile. Because of a display error, they were showing higher than the actual value. This bug didn't affect the actual stat, just how it was being displayed, which has now been fixed. We apologize if this bug caused any confusion. Player Bans FB: 3 MS: 7 As always, we are committed to keeping our games fun and fair for everyone, and will continue to ensure that players are playing fairly and within our Terms of Use by swinging the banhammer where it needs to be swung. If you have any questions or comments about a frozen account, please direct them through Support as the Forums are not the place to discuss account freezes, because of the sensitive account information involved. Facebook Offsite Game Policy Change Facebook recently announced a change to their policy regarding offsite versions of games on Facebook that will take effect December 5th, 2012. You can read more about it here. Ideas Section Revamp Regular forum members will have noticed recently that I've mentioned an upcoming revamp of our Ideas section of the forums. Over the next week you may notice things being moved around in order to make the Ideas section easier to use and post in. Our plan is to add an Ideas section for each game, so that players can post game-specific ideas there instead of one section for all games. We will also have sections for ideas we're considering for implementation, ideas we don't foresee implementing, and community ideas we have already implemented. Community feedback and ideas are extremely important to us, and we hope that this reorganization will better show this love and appreciation. Support Report Hey everyone! Support response was dragging a little behind this week for a number of reasons. The long weekend set us back a day, we had a pile a requests come in from players who had trouble with the newsletter, and half of us at Kano have caught a nasty, lingering cold. However we're all caught up now and hopefully next week will run a little smoother. Names have been something of a theme this week, so I just wanted to put a couple quick reminders out there: character names can only be held by one player at a time, but please remember that if you choose to change your character's name, your previous one becomes fair game for other players to adopt. Names can't be "stolen" so if you decide you want your old name back and find that it's unavailable, you'll have to work something out with the new owner. Additionally, names that are offensive or that specifically target another player are often reset by Support. If this happens, please don't pick another offensive name. I don't actually like playing the "Name Police" game, and repeat offenders are likely to get a 24 hour suspension or worse, which is no fun for anyone. Hopefully that clears up some of the confusion we've seen in Support recently. Remember, you're playing with real people, so be awesome people to play with! -Melanie Joke of the week! Joke of the week time! The following is an old favourite of mine that I was reminded of recently. It's a two-part joke, so get ready! Why do ducks have webbed feet? To put out forest fires! <---Highlight for hilarious answer! Why do elephants have flat feet? To put out burning ducks! Click here for the appropriate sound effect. No ducks were harmed in the making of that joke. I hope you all have a pleasant weekend! Play Now! Wonderbread, That "joke" didnt make me laugh. Stick to the puns, you are no good at irony. (just guessing that is what was supposed to be funny) your biggest fan, Eraser.
PS. I have an issue with Seperating ideas, into different game specific areas.... Many changes are suggested for one game, and in the end, effect all. I would really rather not have this sort of thing slipp passed me because its categorized for one game. ps, there is only so many active community members, that participate in the ideas thread... You really think its a good idea to split us up that way we have EVEN less input on each idea? You want to improve the community? Have a more direct connection to the game, People have problems signing up for forum, For example, I had to send support mail for my account to even be able to make Replies, and post new threads. Others Dont feel like the juice is worth the squeeze to even bother signing up to make thier first post, because they dont forsee the desire to continue putting in more opinions. You want to boost the community, make sign up more simple. Bring more relation to the game. include links to the current discussions that could potentially effect everyone in your TGIF post. Bring in more community members, and then maybe You can start dividing us into groups, In Zs we have about 5 max people who visit the forums daily, and oh what about 20 that visit a few times a month, With the exception of those who read the TGIF post and dont even have an account set up?
To be fair, I first heard this joke when I was in elementary school (and thought it was absolutely hilarious.) While I agree that it's not of the same calibre as some of my other awesome puns, it's nonsensical absurdism still makes me chuckle. With the re-structuring of the ideas section, we will have a section for ideas that affect all the games, and any ideas we're considering for implementation would be discussed there first. We don't want to split the community up, necessarily, but make it less intimidating/confusing to post by keeping the discussion on ideas limited to their game of origin at first. Also, I think including hot-topics in my TGIF posts is a great idea, and definitely something I'll look into doing. As for bringing more players into the forums, I'm very much on the same page with you there, and am open to anything that will help, while keeping the forums civil and respectful for everyone.
@TP Thanks, Aardvark drew it for me. I thought it was pretty awesome. @SS0 Sorting will definitely be part of the revamp, and the section will be closed while we do so. Good idea!
