TGIF! February's come and gone, which means we're getting closer to warmer weather and more sun! March also seems to be quite the month for Musical guests here in Victoria, and I'm personally excited to be able to see Great Big Sea and possibly even the legendary Leonard Cohen!

Anyways, let's take a look at this past week:

    Player Bans Feb 15 - Feb 21

As a reminder, the following numbers are permanently frozen accounts, and don't count temporary freezes.

    FB: 20
    MS: 0
    Kong: 0

If you have any questions or comments about a frozen account, please direct them through Support as the Forums are not the place to discuss account freezes, because of the sensitive account information involved.

    Updated User Settings Interface

As some of you may already know, your user settings are accessible by clicking on "Settings" in the top left corner of the game window. We've added a few more options, and added some descriptions of settings that were less clear. Go check yours out now!

    Winter Newsletter Finally Available!

After much ado, the Winter Newsletter is finally available by using the self-sender on your home screen. You can also view the newsletter in-game once you've sent it to a valid newsletter. Thanks for everyone's patience while we figured this out, and we very much appreciate the community suggestion to have a self-sender.

    Battle Arena XP rewards Bug

In the most recent Battle Arena, there was unfortunately a bug that caused some players to receive less XP in some situations then they would have normally. We were able to fix the bug, although we apologize for the inconvenience caused before the fix. Because this bug didn't affect all players and was quite conditional, we were unfortunately unable to automatically rewards the lost XP. We have, however, been able to manually add the XP to affected players who've written in to Support about it. If you feel that this bug affected you, please send a message through Support so we can take a look into your account.

    New Structure for Ideas Forum

In an effort to better show how much we appreciate community ideas I've been working on a new structure for the Ideas forum. Check out this thread for more information.

    Winter Newsletter Rewards

There has been some confusion with Winter Newsletter rewards that I wanted to quickly clear up. There were some players who were passing around newsletter rewards links before the newsletters had actually gone out. If you clicked one of these links, the rewards link in your newsletter won't give any additional rewards, as you've already received them. Check out this thread for more information: http://forums.kanoapps.com/showthread.php?9552

Community and Support on the weekend

I just wanted to quickly remind you all that while we do keep always a close watch on game stability, we do not currently have a Community or Support person available on the weekend, which means that it's rather unlikely to receive a response to a Community or Support issue on those days. We are hoping to have better coverage for these areas in the future, although we appreciate your patience and consideration until we do.

Support Report Just a reminder, the Support Report is written by our wonderful Support Person Melanie AKA Aardvark

Happy Friday Players! Boy am I glad this week is over, it's been kind of a grind.

This past Wednesday was Anti-Bullying Day, or Pink Shirt Day here in Canada! As many of you know, systematic emotional, verbal and physical abuse of others is a problem for many people both out in the world and online. Fortunately, social media has come a long way in providing blocking and reporting tools to help combat this kind of thing, and we encourage anyone who is struggling with harassment to make full use of them.

A quick note: while frustrating, making your health bar go down is not the same thing as causing you physical or emotional harm. Someone griefing on your character can be a pain, but it's not considered to be "abusive" the same way stalking or harassment is.

Continuing with this theme, I would like to bring up yet again, that game names, faction names, and faction descriptions that are snarky about specific players or groups are not okay. Support reserves the right to reset names and descriptions that are considered inappropriate and replace them with My Little Pony themed content.

    That's all this week!

    Wheaton's Law

Although I do my best to encourage civil and respectful discussion here in the forums, that doesn't always happen. To help encourage positive discussion and behaviour, I wanted to introduce you all to a commonly-quoted rule in gamer communities known as Wheaton's Law. You can learn all about it by clicking on that link, but the gist of the law is this: Don't be a dick.

A short little song based on Wheaton's Law:

A longer but well-done song in honor of Will Wheaton's birthday:

Although I think Wheaton's Law is particularly appropriate for our forums, it's also quite relevant for in-game interactions. So remember, it's absolutely ok not to like things, or to disagree, or to be upset about a change we've made or haven't made, but just, you know, don't be a dick about it.

On that note, I hope you all have a fantastic and stress-free weekend.

You know, someone, "Being a dick" is a vague concept, very much a matter of opinion. In my opinion Kano breaks that rule all the time.

I must also express that its important to have a few dicks around.

@Eraser + Jades While I appreciate the humorous videos, I feel like you've missed the point somewhat. I can appreciate that "being a dick" is a little vague as a concept, so let me quickly explain.

You are absolutely allowed and encouraged to have an opinion that's different from ours. Verbal abuse, or "being a dick" comes from intent. If your intent is to help the community by pointing out the things you feel we do wrong, then you don't need to be personally offensive. The whole point behind me introducing Wheaton's Law is because I feel you guys lose sight of the fact that we're people on the other end. Letting us know that you're frustrated about something is great! Being insulting and offensive while doing so isn't.

Honest feedback is great. We absolutely want this, and we appreciate that you're passionate enough about the game to give it. But honest feedback is much more effective and easier to receive when it isn't riddled with insults and accusations.

Being honest: I feel like you guys don't listen to community suggestions and I think the game would be much better off if you took more of our suggestions.
Being a dick: You guys are &^$*& idiots for not listening to your players.

Both of those things phrases come from the same frustration, but one is constructive feedback, and one is someone just being negative. Again, it's okay to not like things, just don't be insulting or offensive about it.
