Sociology Question About Kano Apps.

  1. The inspiration for this comes from a squad mate of mine.

I can only speak from ZS and VC. So my hypothesis is that the same would be true on LCN and PC.

On ZS the two or three highest level players are constantly accused of cheating, bullying, and generally portrayed in a negative light. These accusations typically don't require any proof, simply a negative emotional response (Malice, Jealousy, Anger, Frustration).

On VC I've noticed the same attitude/accusations towards the two highest level players there. Again accusations made and believed to be justified without any proof to support them.

I'm not saying any of the 4 players are innocent, or guilty, of the accusations against them. I just find the sociological manifestation to be truely fasinating.

I will say that one of the constant accusations is extremely questionable, and that would be the accusation of bullying. I have yet to find a way to assault a lower level player unprovoked. Everytime one of those 4 players has attacked me, it has been within 24 hours of me attacking them most likely while they were on the hitlist. Yet I often see accusations of how they constantly attack lower level players without justification, and "keep them dead". I find this accusations very questionable for another reason. On ZS one can only attack 40 times, and on VC rumor has it that one can only attack 5000 times. While I can assume that the 2 highest level players on VC have 5000 stam, I find it difficult to believe that they would spend all of that stamina on a single player who could, very quickly, simply ambush them constantly. Even hitlisting a player gets expensive quickly, even with a massive hoard, where is the benefit to them for throwing away that much money on a player that's no threat.

Inversely, I've noticed that many of the higher level players constantly accused of "Bullying" often fancy themselves as the defender of the weak, the ones stopping bullies. However I've heard at least one of the 4 players state that they use the drama merely to spice up their game, and mean nothing by it outside of the "Role-Playing" aspect of it.

So, my questions to everyone are:

    1) Does this behavior appear on PC and LCN? For that matter does it appear on the apps on other networks?
    2) What are everyone's thoughts on this phenomena?? But let's please keep it civil. This is more an academic exercise for me than anything else.

    1) I'm guessing that such a behavior should be common on LCN, since each time I list some random guy, I get chainlisted by a faction, maybe two. While I don't care (I keep healing until they get bored lol) I guess most people complain and whine and say that factions are full of bullies. Not sure about PC, but just remembering the posts about hsd cheaters bullies, makes me think it applies there. Speaking about Facebook games on both cases.

    2) My thoughts are simple: This is but a small sector of society, and most share some atributes. What I find interesting, is the misconception so many people have of the word Bullying. Shortly said, bullying's a term meant for defining an abuse to the weak. On ZS I'm a bully because I hitlist everyone who punches me overnight, including level 25s, or because I attack people from my fightlist 20 times (I stop when there's no payout, so not even 40!)

Also, the higher level "superheroes". I have no problems on ZS at all, but on LCN... Some ask me politely to stop when I start a fight with one of their lower levels. Most times I reply, "Okay, I'll stop unless he gives me a reason not to." Most people understand, those who don't simply drop me and start defending their lowbies from a level 500ish bully, I just chainlist them. Some others don't even ask and drop out of the blue. Since 99% of the people on LCN is cheap to hitlist, I just chainlist the hell out of them as well.

What I find both interesting and amusing, is the seriousness people take this game with. I've seen many times people really showing hate towards others just because they killed them and thus made them lose 4% XP. Or examples as the ones stated on this post "YOU CHEAT, YOU BOT, YOU BULLY" simply because someone's better than them.

I feel that, from a sociological view, it is mostly people who have no patients. The people who would buy Console games, and play with cheat codes. Then they get to VC, PC, ZS, LCN and they can't do this anymore, They don't have the patients to build their character over a few hundred days, they want to be top level now... When they can't get up top fast they get frustrated and sometimes lost in the game, then I assume that they retaliate to someone who knocked them from the hitlist without looking to see what level he is at. The higher level player knocks him around a bit, which he sees then as a sort of bullying because the guy is a higher level and should know better than to attack low level players...

I think it's all directly linked to the fact that their Impatient and frustrated, maybe they have a misconception about the game.

Regarding the Cheating part, I'd say the best possible reason I can come up with would be: say a guy plays VC for 700+ days, but only plays like 2hours a day, max. Then one day he gets curious and goes to the world leader board, clicks on Mike and sees that Mike has been playing 740 days. so he wonders how can mike get up to level 9380 (yoh almost 10K Nice Mike) in the same time as he has been playing. With the human mind being corrupt as it is he suddenly thinks about cheating, he heard about bots somewhere so it must be that Mike is using them and cheating that's the best possible answer... What he doesn't hink about is that Mike Spends a lot of time playing the game, he is really dedicated to winning and beating the game, so he doesn't cheat, he merely works hard.

    Misconception...

This of course is just a theory, I personally am also classed as a bully because I attack someone until their health is too low for me to attack more. which is normally a lot depending on their strengths.

  5. I am still quite fascinated by this. Now even more so since a guild has decided to label me as a bully :) I feel so proud of myself.

apparently bountying a lvl 660 who keeps axe slapping you, you being a 2k+ level, is bullying. well if he'd ever leave the hospital, I wouldn't have to hitlist him, I'd kill him the fun way :)

still it astounds me, I get it I do, everyone's perceptions are based upon their own perspective. And perspective tints experience to show one's self in the best possible light. What's the old saying, "Everyone is the hero of their own story" ??

Still it astounds me the lengths people will go to to twist facts.
