Can someone please tell me what KANO's litmus test is for finding a clan name offensive. Yesterday KANO removed my clan name and changed it to Unknown Viking. The clan name that was so offensive was "I HURT WITTLE ------'s FEEWINGS".

Now if KANO was bothered by my spelling FEELINGS - FEEWINGS - well I did that for a reason. If someone acts like a baby, well let's spell like a baby.

There are times that clan names go over the top (a couple of these I've done myself). But since KANO seems to have a problem with my saying I hurt someone's "feewings" - well then there's a problem. Viking Clan/Zombie Slayers/Pirate Clan/Mob Wars are combat games. Conflict and anger are part and parcel of this idea. Seems to me that KANO needs to figure this out, and act accordingly.

This is something that needs to be sent to support to find out the reason. :)

I am clan with both you and the person you refer to in your previous name, and I don't see the problem with the name at all. Both players have changed their name with a reference to each other. Both have not used any foul language, and to be truthful it was rather entertaining them changing their name.

yeah ive had my fair share of name changing fun, i can see both sides of the story so just deal with it...whether or not we understand the reasoning of it, you have to deal with the consequences of being offensive.....and at the same time, if yours was removed, i dont see why beloved of satan was left alone haha and to the kano editors, thats not the full name and pertains to this issue so dont hate ;p

Demonik - I don't hate anyone. Not worth my time. It's a full contact game. And I understand that. I've offended people, as have you, and as has everyone else. But there are several issues here. Among them:

    1) It costs 10 favor points to change a name, favor points which could have gotten me a few levels.
    2) The fact that there seems to be no rhyme or reason for why KANO does what they do at times.

Linda, good question, but I've learned that I won't get much of an answer from KANO support. Hence my asking the people in here.

Well GMF all you will get here is opinons , while support will tell you why, I can imagine someone reported you that is how these things usually happen, and that person may have said I am offended, just my opinion, but like I said ask support cause kano will not address it here, as it is a support question. :)

i wasnt telling you not to hate, i was talking to the kano mods in my reference to a name change pertaining to you by a rival of yours....and as to the measley 10 fps...cmon man, if they really meant that much to you you wouldnt have wasted them on a name change in the first place

Kano changes names of players , not Mods, Mods do not have the ability to change game names in the game.:) Besides the fact that I believe GMF plays on myspace, if I am not mistaken and there are no mods that play on Myspace , so this is something that has nothing to do with mods. Just to clarify, that is why writing to support is the way to go for an answer .:)

Linda is absolutely correct here about needing to contact support to inquire about a support decision on a specific incident :)

There doesnt seem to be rhyme or reason when it comes to Kano and their deletion of names. I had a name changed once that didnt include any profanity, implied profanities, threats implied threats, harassment or names and it was deleted because the player whined to Kano that I was making fun of her and got all her cronies to message support.

The OP and I are long time rivals and honestly....I didnt see anything wrong or offensive with that name in the slightest. Kano probably should award them FP back.

I know its the principle of the thing Fielding.....but really? You change your name more than anyone and often time the names have been offensive, gross, chidish, risque, racist, feminist etc etc etc and didnt have them deleted when they probably should have. Pretty much a wash dont ya think?

My dear Blimp - offensive gross and childish yes. Pitiful? Most certainly! Racist? I don't think so. Sexist? I don't think so either.

Heck I once had a guy suggest in a clan name I was in a love affair with the Bieb. Didn't hear me crying. To the contrary - I thought it was the funniest thing ever. My only issue with it was I didn't think of it 1st!!!!!

With all due respect my dear Dutchman - my clan names are usually rather funny. The other person in question? Not so much. They don't offend me - but I don't find his funny. Mine however are usually quite entertaining - and yes often offensive. However the clan name in question wasn't the least bit offensive. Hence the reason for this thread.

There ya go....everyone has diff ideas as to what is offensive regardless of what derogatory, demeaning category it may fall into . Like I said previously...I didnt see anything overly offensive about that name....just a lil rival jabbing, kinda like the whole "blimp" thing and the countless other names directed at me or my guild over the years.

Yes but my dear sir - you must agree that I'm pretty good at being offensive and funny at the same time. Oh and I don't mind the "jabbing" back. Like I said before, the guy who called me the "world's biggest Bieber fan" - that was good. I actually had to take my hat off to that guy. Of course I gave him 100 deaths - but hey - it's a full contact game.

Oh and for anyone who cares - and for everyone who suggested that I talk to KANO support about this, just a heads up - KANO SUPPORT NEVER DID HAVE THE COURTESY TO MESSAGE ME BACK.

As much as it pains me i must admit youve had a few gems/snot inducers over the years. Personally I prefer the names that are a play on ones name like blimp, whimp, gimp (not all yours) or the jabs that are based on reality like the whole "rev' thing. Jabs are good...its keeps rivalries going which is good for the games.

My best guess is that your message to support when unanswered because it fell into the category of those in which they do not reply to, there is a list of them somewhere....not sure where that list is posted though

@GMF I've looked into your Support exchange, and can see that you were responded to regarding your inquiry :) If you're having difficulty accessing responses to your Support tickets, please check out this section of our knowledgebase.

I also wanted to address some of the questions in this thread. While you do need to contact support to find out about specific support actions, I can tell you that we often reset names with particularly offensive language or content or that targets specific players, particularly if a person's real-world name has been used.

Hopefully that helps, and please contact Support for any individual inquiries. :)
