    Right now they are used in factions as a fun competition.

    As we evolve gamer points, they will be rolled out to more game play as well. If you are maxing out your daily gamer points then you will be in good shape for when we start rolling out more features around GP's outside of factions. Factions aren't necessary to join, but if you are looking for help with your bosses, outbreaks etc, why not join one and meet some new people.
