Persistent storage for boss helper max damage set by owner will be pushed this evening. Helper max dmg will now be persistent through all bosses. If we lose another cache server (knock on wood we won't!) it will no longer reset the boss helper max dmg. The downside of this change is that when it is pushed out this evening all bosses will be reset one more time.

    [UPDATE]: change is now live!

    Changes include:

    • Boss max helper dmg will be persistent from boss to boss, for example if you set max and or min, that will now carry to future bosses. Current behavior is that it would be reset each time and we found that the players that were setting them were continually resetting it to previous level.
    • Max helper dmg is now saved in persistent storage, when cache servers die those values will not reset
    • suicide by boss no longer possible, will just drop you down to 1-health
    • Max dmg a helper can do has been set just below the max health of the boss, this should eliminate the cases where one player comes in deals 100% dmg and boss owner does none. We will put a fix in that will not let a boss die if an owner has done 0 dmg and boss close to dying, that is on the short term todo list and will hopefully get that change out tomorrow.

    hate this feature

  3. I still can't see why you call it max-meter, if your intention was the option to do minimum damage!!
I want people to do MINIMUM damage on my bosses, but they can EASILY take twice as much as needed thanks to your MAX-meter :(
When you added this feature, you could at least have called it MIN-meter, and then people could only do the MINIMUM damage needed to get drops, right??

Im ok with most of these but this one sucks....

"Max dmg a helper can do has been set just below the max health of the boss, this should eliminate the cases where one player comes in deals 100% dmg and boss owner does none. Essentially this is taking away a boss owners rights to their own boss and will take a lot of bosses out of play. Many high level bosses have way to high a minimum for a the boss owner to reach depending on their stamina. So bosses will either not be put out in order to help their clan to get the drops and rewards or a boss will be put out and everyones stam that helped on the boss will be wasted because the boss owner doesnt have the stam to get the minimum. VERY BAD IDEA! If a player wants to put their boss out to have it killed just in order to help others then so be it....its their boss!

I no longer go after bosses on a large scale so it doent really effect me....but i see this as an issue for many others

I understand that this is an effort to stop "boss farming"....but its simply not going to work as i have already thought of ways around this (wont say here for obvious reasons).

It punishes a player who simply has no interest in bosses or low stam and just wants to help out clan that do. In the end the negative impact far outweighs the positives

If a boss owner gets credit for the kill, awarded achievements for kills, how is it fair that 1 helper can do 100% damage and owner still gets credit?

oh come on, you only get achievements for the first 10 of each on the low levels. as for the high level bosses its hard to believe that a lvl 50 hitmen would be considered easy for anyone. i dont even want to think about a solo kill an a boss that high

  7. Just saw a boss where the owner did 0 damage, it was defeated in 07:14:02. Boss health is 4,680,000, max helper set to 4,546,285.

Is this a bug? let me know if you want a link.

I once again agree with Polish. This is taking away the boss owner's right to set the damage to whatever they want. You guys should just push out a code that if the boss is defeated by anyone else that the owner just isnt credited with the kill. But sometimes some players set the damage at the max simply because they don't care about the boss and want others to benefit from it.If the owner doesn't want to kill it,then they should be able to set the max damage to the full health of the boss. The owner just shouldn't get credit for the kill.

Wish i had replied sooner, dont know how i missed your reply Kendal

Well for starter thats the way its been from the beginning of bosses....r u gonna go back and take the kills and achievements away from the players who didnt get the minimum damage b4 this update? If not....how is that "fair" to all those who have to do the minimum now in order to get the kill and the achievement?

If the boss dies the boss dies...does it matter who killed it? It was still "my" boss, "I" had to ask for help and "my" clan killed it. This is Viking "clan" is it not? I had to go out and recruit that clan didnt I? Doesnt my clan help me in many ways? why am i not allowed to return the favor...especially if i have no interest in the boss whatsoever?

If its really just the kill and achievement thing u dont agree with then why not go with "lord breakfields" idea and push some code that doesnt credit the kill to the owner if they dont kill it themselves? Another thing ive been suggesting since bosses came out is that players should get credit for every boss killed...not just their own. Ive got like 30-40k boss assists (most of which i killed) and just a few thousand boss kills (my own). There should be 3-4 categories for boss kills on the leaderboards and achievements.
    1. assists/helps
    2. own bosses killed
    3. clan bosses killed
    4. total bosses killed

If your logic is to not credit a boss owner because they didnt actually participate.....then wouldnt it make sense to credit the player who does kill it? Helping on a boss and killing a boss r to diff things entirely, a lot of players out there simply hit a boss one or 2 times just to get credit for the assist and move up the leaderboards, where as a player such as myself and othes used a TON of stamina to actually kill it,
