Chieftains(when in battle)

I'm level 58 and yet, I can only add 8 chieftains at the inner circle..

Q: How come some players with the same level have over 200+, 300+??

adding to inner circle doesnt mean thats all your fighting with.
this isnt zombie slayer where only top squad counts.
this is one where clan is warm bodies.

 

So how does this work?? I mean where did they get such number of chieftains?

 

they have that many friends or hired or combination.

max size is 1000 friends and 1000 hired.
