buying limited items

    I remember a couple of years ago I had a different account to my current one (abandoned the first one after joining the army, having no internet access on course and completely forgetting my password) but anyway, in that account I remember buying limited items with gold, the two I remember specifically were the corkscrew sword and skull gauntlets, what I'm wondering is what ever happened to being able to buy limited items with gold instead of just favor points?
