Hey everyone, This is more of a head's up than anything, but we're making some small changes to the Side Chat. For every network where the Side Chat has been implemented, there will be a "Job Board" coming out within the next few days where you can post links like bosses, challenges and quest-assists freely. For the World Chat we're lowering the cost of speakers and upping the daily reward of speaker to make chat a bit more accessible. The "Community" chat room on Armor Games Zombie Slayer is now the New Player area, which will disappear after a certain amount of time. If you have any questions about these changes, feel free to leave them here!
For the players that really never use the speakers can we trade them in for like uns or something. some of us have many speakers just sitting around. What you think?
Changes to the Chat: http://t.co/nSgSErOUTx link took me to loyalty rewards. as far as side chat. I still can't scroll so obviously I don't like this change. Not real useful when you have to refresh your browser to read it. shrug. Matters not. I won't need it anyway.
there will be a "Job Board" coming out within the next few days where you can post links like bosses, challenges and quest-assists freely. Isn't that the same function as the regular social feed offers? To me it is an unnecessary duplication of effort. Once thing I would like to see if Kano is dead set on keeping this new chat function, is a time stamp from when the posts were made.
Sorry but i do not like this new chat, it gets in the way of everything. I can't fight hunt or anything without closing the window. I liked the old one cause I could have it open and still hunt and fight etc. Maybe you guys should put it back? I'm not sure why you guys changed it, it was working just fine. I'm sure im not the only one with this problem?
The community chat on armor is one of the greatest things you have ever done. The ability for everyone to communicate with each other in an unlimited amount is what's keeping that server alive. As someone who actually plays the game and sees how things work, I advise you not to get rid of it. I'm guessing you won't listen to me though and end up removing it anyway then armor will become worse than kong. I await the predictable reply stating how you respect my opinion, but the developers really think it should go this way instead without them not having a clue how the game works and just wanting people to buy more speakers.
I agree! It would be great if we could trade in, say, 5 speakers at a time for 1 DJP or something? Or 10 speakers for 1 DJP? If not DJP maybe we could trade them in for lottery tickets. At any rate, I would love to be able to trade them for something. We earn them but if we don't need them, we should get something of equal value.
I decided I'd attach some proof to my statement. If you still take away community chat after seeing this, it just proves that you care nothing of what your users think and you're only after every last penny you can squeeze out of people.
I will speak with the devs in the morning to sync up on this issue for armor since it is different from how we have launched other games. For Armor, will propose to the devs that we remove speakers on World Chat as a test. We will still have the job board coming out. If World did not require speakers, would that be a suitable solution?
Yes that is very good. The people in the game are mostly there for the chat and it seems like that would be a suitable solution.
taking away the cost of the world chat and making it a free chat would solve everything. probably one of the best ideas ive seen recently. why cant this be implemented in all games? if not all at least vc ;]
Moveable? Why not make the chat-box 'movable' so that the user can put it somewhere where it could be open and still be able to see everything?
@Stephen Rayl If you're on Facebook or Kano Play, the option exists to pop the chat out into a separate window so you can re-size it and move it around. Here's a screenshot of the button you need to click:
Just a small update to this thread: The developers have decided to remove the speaker cost from World Chat on Armor Games, that update should be out within the next hour or so. For the other networks it's a bit of a different situation as the speakers are sort of a legacy system, so removing them abruptly isn't optimal. However, what we're doing is opening up the number of available speakers a bit to allow the side chat to function a bit more openly. If this goes smoothly we can investigate making chat freely available in the future.
Thanks for this implementation. This has got to be one for the smartest things you've done in a while and I'm thankful for it. The people on armored seem thrilled about it too, not losing their community
