[VC] Bounty List Distribution Algorithm Update

Today we released an update to the algorithm that is used to distribute bounties in the VC World.

As many already know, when a bounty is placed, not all players see the bounty at the same time depending on the players level combined with recent activity.

With the increase in bounties being placed now that "The Gods" are swinging their hammer we saw through data and heard from player feedback that an update was needed to better distribute visibility of bounties which is where todays update comes in.

As we can only see so much through data, it is important for players to let us know good or bad if the bounties are being distributed better than previous algorithm.

On another note, we continue to get support tickets around "Bounty Bots" etc, the previous algorithm may have encouraged misreports, but if not, this is a step in the direction to give us better detection which we will be improving over the coming weeks, so if you are a player that uses any automated assistance you best stop now or risk having action taken against your account.

    Mr Freeze out.

Kendall, did you reduce frequency as well? Also only seeing 1 god bounty at time instead of 5?

Nope this frequency did not change. It is a max of 5 so it will vary from instance to instance.

Im not really sure how to respond to this other than to say...TY...I think? If what your saying is that you adjusted the "bounty delay"...in order to make it a little fairer in that everyone across the board will have more of a fair shake at a bounty despite their level and/or success....Ide say Im pretty darn happy about that...I would even say that I feel vindicated. Ive been hootn n hollern about bounty delays for as long as i can remember and I think most people just thought I was off my rocker. At the same time though...I cant help but feel a bit disappointed both in that it took this long for you guys to admit it and the fact that we have been basically getting the short end of the stick for a very long time. Oh well...Im happy u guys finally came clean and evened things up a bit...Its greatly appreciated.

So Is the same for everyone despite level and recent activity now.....Or is it just closer than it was? Im also curious at to the technical term....wouldnt it be easier for some to understand if u just called it what its been called all along...the bounty delay.

With the larger number of bounties being placed, we started to see "holes" in the previous bounty distribution algorithm. Sorry for the "hand-waving" but that is the nature of the bounty list and how they are shown and when to players. Anyways, looking forward to hearing feedback from players. The feedback for the data looks good so far.

@Jades I think Kendall is referring more to in-game data than forum feedback in this case. :)

Im confused (surprise surprise ;)). So there are more bounties today than there was back in the hay day of these games? I dont have any actual numbers to fall back on but it sure doesnt feel that way. So why wasnt this addressed back then? It was certainly brought up enough times.

In the end ...Im happy that this was addressed but am still curious as to whether it was simply adjusted to be lil more fair or if it was fixed completely....meaning that now all bounties will come up the same for all players regardless of level and recent activity.

I think I like the change as well as the acknowledgment implicit that says for the last hours of a fierce war mode fight, that the shut out I get is or was programmed. If I knew when I could kill folks listed it might help but I always said it was Murphy Kendals Law.

At least I know its not my new glasses or the click rate of my fingers. Cancelled the order for the new i7 ... thank you!!!!! :D

Yes. The bounty delay is as you call it, is very apparent. I wish it were more skillful than it is. There once was a hit limit of the bounty button itself, that was expressly shown. I think it was 100 hits of the button. Then an express delay period was shown where you could not hit the bounty button at all. Good hunters learned techniques to avoid the time out. And after an adjustment period, it was not minded then it was pulled as likely some lesser skilled players who needed to learn what was going on and adjust, just complained and complained to support in a larger fashion, than the "Pro's".

The problem is very apparent in war mode where no one can see a bloody thing, yet like other guilds stocked with hunters, they are very good and normally you expect a high rate of success on these expected listings. So that is done, so less listings, and less action and less recycling and less and less ... action but for watching a fella snag bounty after bounty that your players don't see. Great. NOT!

I would suggest the algorithm be visible in whatever fashion it actually runs. If its a hit limiter in place, with a countdown of the hits, when the bounty button is clicked. Example 100 clicks after you reset. Click 10 tens, you have 90 more clicks left. With game clock ticks, hits are regenerated. Expressly you know you are shut out and to ease off the bounty button. The way it is now, its this dirty little Kano secret as to what is going on, and for me, that is not good enough in terms of the expression of skills.

    That is one player's view.

I have always taken the view that Kano is effect running the league that we compete in. As league operators, I think you have to hear the General Managers on this issue at the next League Meetings. Otherwise, why play the game so apparently fixed against the players and Teams.

I agree Kel. The whole thing is BS. We do exactly what the game is designed for to do and get stronger and more adept at certain aspects of the game only to have Kano slam the door in our faces. Every aspect of these games are quickly becoming pointless. Whats next ...the arena? Ooooops...never mind....to late fore that too. Oh well...I guess they can always just ban all the alt accounts and do nothing about the mother account....that will make all the difference...lol who am I kidding...Apparently Kano wants these games to fail...for every step forward its two steps back
