I know that when you 'upgrade' at the Blacksmith it is not always necessarily in your best interest to do so. Sometimes it makes you stronger and sometimes it makes you weaker depending upon what the 'upgrade' was and what the cost of it was. Alternatively the 'upgrade may increase attack or defence and decrease the opposite one of attack/defence. So I have been monitoring the results closely. For some time I have been suspicious about one or two of the results. I have noted my stats before and after an upgrade in the areas of Clan Weapon Attack/Defence and Clan Warrior Attack/Defence and also the total of Attack and Defence. The glitch that I have noticed is that sometimes with some 'upgrades' there is absolutely no increase or decrease in attack or defence stats at all yet you still lose the coin and the 'things' used to make the supposed 'upgrade.' Obviously if it takes say five 'things' to get one more powerful 'thing' you now have four spaces in your armoury which are filled by the next four unused 'things' in your storehouse as room is made for everything to move up the queue. That is not a problem and I full understand that. But, when there is absolutely not a single point of increase or decrease yet you still lose coin and 'things' that cannot surely be right. OK, maybe by pure chance the reshuffle in your queue of 'things' balanced out but I am getting it a lot now. For example, and I am not silly enough to give my actual stats here, I have just 'upgraded' to two Elite Lobster Hookwhips and three Elite Tentacle Whips for zero alteration to my stats (and as I said, this has gone on for a while now). So just those two alone have cost me 70 Lobster Hook Whips, 105 Tentacle Whips and 38million coins and I got nothing back. Is anybody else noticing this problem or is it just me?
As you said it replaced un-used items just happen to be equal #'s to what you have in inventory, not a problem what you own just random that same #'s appeared, and yes I know smithing
Yes Matt, I understand the number for number replacement of items etc, that is not a problem. However, it would be an amazing coincidence for the sum total of the replaced items plus the value(s) of the crafted items, which are being replaced by totally different items and varying quantities of them with different attack and defence values, to just happen to equal the total attack and defence of not only the items being replaced but also include the attack and defence of the item just crafted. I can't accept that this just happens to be the answer time and time and time again. I am not convinced there is not a glitch. If it were true, then the loss is the waste of money going into the crafting for absolutely no difference whatsoever in both your attack and defence figures. There must be another explanation. It has happened to me too many times now for it to be coincidence. I would say at least twenty times that I have counted before saying anything. That would be a major disincentive to upgrade if all you did was lose money!!!
I would suggest you monitor the stats of your own upgrades to see if it is happening to you as well. Check your stats in detail before and after an upgrade to see what happens. Mostly you get a correct upgrade. This is random as it is not limited to the same items of upgrade. I have cited the elite lobster hook whips and the tentacle whips, but it happens to other things too.
you have to check what your lowest used weapo and warriors are...i know that i dont use many of the legendary weapon drops from most of the bosses so i dont even make them anymore and as for the waste of coin, you can hardly call millions a waste in a game of trillions and quads....if its a waste to you then stop crafting items youre not using...if youd like some more smithing advice send me a private message and i will be happy to help :]
I have sent in a ticket and Melanie is on to this. Yesterdays loss - I crafted two steel swords. Cost = 4 x Alfheim Daggar Sets, 2 x skull daggers, 2 x Viking daggers, 10 billion coins. After the craft no change to my stats except that I lost all those weapons and money. I hope that Kano are going to sort this out. I understand the logistics of the game and blacksmithing etc. But what is happening is totally random. Sometimes I get the upgrade, sometimes I am robbed. I don't spend trillions on an upgrade as I craft before I collect that many bits & pieces, but in total I have lost trillions to date and goodness only knows how many weapons and warriors that I have collected. I will have to wait and see what Melanie says. I would be interested to know if this is happening to anybody else. I used to assume that when I crafted an upgrade I got it. Purely out of curiosity I noted my before and after stats from the strengths tab to see if crafting was much of a benefit and at first just thought it was me. But because it is random i.e. sometimes I get the upgrade and sometimes I don't, then I think it is a fault.
As an observation, to get to Legendary on something you must go through the lower crafting level of Elite. So even if you are not using Elite any more as you have outgrown it, you still need to craft them in order to get to the Legendary that you are using. If you craft the Elite level and don't get them then there is something wrong.
Remember that you don't use every single weapon in your arsenal, only five times the number of chieftains you have. I have well over 20,000 weapons in my inventory but I only take the top 10,000 into battle so only those 10K are counted in my attack/defense strength. The lowest weapons of the 10,000 I take into battle currently are 50 attack and 51 defense (you can figure this out for your weapons using the Clan/Inventory pages). If I were to upgrade any of my existing Lobster Hook Whips to elites, it would have absolutely no impact on my total attack/defense as Elite LHW's are only 42A/48D and would still be unused in battle (for me at least). Hope that helped. I did an over-simplified explanation of how the battle strength numbers are calculated for some of the newbies in my guild a while back. It is really very basic but if you're interested in it, PM me and I'll scare it up and send it to you
I looked at it another way and found the answer. By checking quantities before & after in the clan listing of warriors or weapons it reveals that although you are not using said items they are actually added to your quantity list once crafted. Clearly the only reason for doing this is to get to Legendary by collecting now useless elites. Result. Problem solved. Thanks to all those who helped - especially the nice Melaine
Unless your eliminating all the unused weapons/warriors from your inventory I dont think that its all that much of a stretch that the items being replaced are being replaced by items that add up to the same numbers. The sheer volume of items and combinations of items with similar numbers are pretty extensive. Thats not to say that it isnt a glitch.....but Ive noticed the same thing u have and when investigated very closely the change in combinations always added up to the same thing in those instances. Mind you.....there can often times be a lot of diff items that have been changed to come up with the same total so investigating can often be tedious.
When I have items to craft in the blacksmith I note my stats first, then only craft one item/warrior then look at my stats again to see if it has been better or worse for me. If worse I don't craft any more of those for a while but check back later when I am at higher levels. If better I craft the rest of that batch. I see enemies come against me who, when I check their weapons & warriors clearly do not take the trouble to do that as they have numbers of things that probably did not make them stronger but made them weaker. Just because an item is craftable does not mean it does you any good. I always check the results first, so I know exactly what you mean.
