[Other] Arena..Remove killer ID until after competition.

    This idea involves the removal of the identity of the "Death Blow" killers name from view in the Arena.

    I mentioned removing the ID of killers ages ago and it now seems players are beginning to see the damage showing the killers names are having in the Arena.
    So it's time to see what others feel about it in a separate thread with the option to vote on the idea.

    Guys are simply fed up of getting kills only to have their game ended minutes later by someone with an endless supply of stamina and a stack of kills already under their belts.
    These lower players don't expect to win the Arena, but they would like the chance to spend some time enjoying it.

    I would extend the removal of ID's from feeds until the end of the competition as this would also open the door to revenge attacks, unless the "Search" facility is also removed.

    ( It would be fair to keep the "SEARCH" issue separate from this one, and maybe LB could start an idea thread on that)

    I'm all for kill and be killed, but their is little skill in hunting out the opposition when their name jumps out of the screen at you.

    This idea has been going around for a while, so it's fair to say this is a collective idea.

    i agree to hiding the death blows identity from others but the person who died will know and whats stopping them for telling there friends??
    the only thing i see needs changing is you should have limited amount of attacks on someone before you can get the deathblow
    as someone chains it down to have it stolen by a stronger player at the end
    theres an advantage to the higher player getting the final blow without doing anything so make it limited amount of attacks needed to get it

    Fusheng, that is never going to happen, the majority of people that participate in the arena are sniping for a kill. There is no way you are going to force feed people having to have stamina to play arena by instituting a minimum number of attacks. A while back i proposed a split of the health bonus for the person having most attacks getting half, and the person dealing the death blow getting half, and if you get both then you would receive the whole health bonus. Kano took that and instituted a small amount of health returned for attacking as long as you were lower than your starting health.

    I think this is a good idea to remove the name of the death blow, but now your getting into territory that would be major programming, cuz someone mentioned all the person has to do is die and see who killed him and that is the same thing. It would mean the feed would have to be removed, all inbound attackers feed would have to be removed and no one would be able to know who got them or how till it was over.
    i like to see who is attacking me, so i can attack back, if that information was removed, you would be blind.

    So you either see the name or you see nothing......

    I dont think the majority of players are in communication with one another....but your right that some may tell their friends, I still think eliminating the name would go a significant way to alleviate the issue. Most players are impatient and will just move on to the next kill rather than take the time and try and track someone down.

    Not sure I like the minimum attack thing though.....sniping is a legitimate strategy especially for the the low levels and stamina deprived.

    I can't see limited attacks as a way forward and there would be no way of us policing who did what to who and who should have got the kill because of some equation buried inside a served in Canada.

    As for major programming, I believe it would be a case of simple $rting variables to hide the kills name from the dead. Instead of the killers name there could be ?????????, until the Arena is over, then the program would release the names.

    However, as most players use an alias, is there really that much of a need to know who killed you?

    As it's in Kano's interest to make the Arena work, it would be helpful if they could throw us a bone as to what can and can't be done to generate interest in playing , not joining!!

    I believe when the arenas first came out the name of the killer wasnt displayed....it was only after players requested the names be displayed that Kano changed it. I believe I was one of the players in favor of it at the time but have since seen the error of my ways...lol. So my guess would be that it would be fairly simple to change it back.

    I also noticed that in the last arena we were no longer able to see the name of the player another player ran themselves into and were killed, that was not the way it was just the week before.

    i give it a 6, i think its a helpful idea for the lower levels cause i know when i see someone get a kill that i had worked on from full health i go right after them on instinct alone. i dont hesitate for one second, no thought at all, i just continue to take them out. i like seeing who got the kill but it IS a good idea to keep a lot of people from getting killed early on...mixed emotions on this one haha

    It seems it's ok for the high levels to take my kills but not the other way around as they have the resources and I don't.
    I was doing ok taking down some of the inactive accounts in PC, but the moment I stepped in to go for one that a few were hitting as I needed to build health again, I was attacked and stalked in defence and killed the moment I came out.
    BTW, only one attack in the 5 hours I was inactive, so I guess I could have finished much higher had I not bothered to attack anyone.

    Snipers are usually not targeted until later in the round, because they have a large amount of health, much larger than the hundreds of incactive players laying around.

    I personally like that it shows who got the kill that you put 1,000+ stamina into.


    the names dont cycle enough. Kano claims they are working on it, but Yet to see if its a good fix.

    I dont go straight after somone who sniped my kill, but I do save them for later use in the round. Handy to have a names on your save list, that are not on the current list that everybody has to look at and snipe from.

    Snipers already outnumber stamina "gunners" 300-1 or better. They hang out in pacts helping eachother find your work... While the folks spending all the stamina have to stay secret as possible.

    all that being said, I dont think this is a 1 idea. I would prefer not to have to use such sneaky tactics. I would comprimise for the kill show to be removed, IF, The fight list was more random, giving snipers a much harder time trying to find the kills that Im gunning down.

    So i will not rate this thread until I see the way kano "fixes" the fight list for next arena. If im satisfied that its adjusted properly.. Ill give this a 10.

    Seems fair enough, make it more difficult, to snipe, make it more difficult to target a sniper.

    Yes, it definitely seems that there is something wrong with the battle list... I was 5 hours late to the last Pirates arena, and I wasn't attacked once... as soon as I started attacking anyone, it seemed that I got pounded on by a few active players... I have noticed this before, it almost seems that active players are moved UP the battle list above inactive players!

    For me its a mixed bag, sometimes I go after the sniper immediately other times I save them for later depending on my circumstances or more often than not the sniper immediately goes into Defensive stance after the snipe because the know whats coming...lol

    I agree that fixing the battle list would go a long ways towards alleviating the problem

    no f there was a limited number of attack say 100 atack players are not going to attack players with full health as they know hey only have the limit of 100 attack so why knock some one down knowing that you not going to get the kill because of the limit , no one would be attacking and there b stalemate in the arena

    I apologize that this isn't 100% about the OP, but I just wanted to let you guys know that we've just pushed out a change for the Arena (across all games) that will have the battle/fight list populate 100% randomly. We hope this helps provide a more varied list.

    Im starting to get the feeling ...you guys may have been tinkering with the randomness of the fight list....just a feeling ....lol
