Ran across this winner today on the Bounty list:

    "Queer Basher".

Really? I usually have no probs with anyone's handle but this is disgusting.
Perhaps someone at KANO might consider showing this little boy the error of his ways.

Or, if anyone in FB VC cares to, here's the little darlings link: http://apps.facebook.com/vikingclan/profile/user/100000091595246

I was gonna have the name Faggot... which means little pieces of wood used for a fire. Or maybe Gay, which means happy. Maybe queer just means funny , and he wants to bash all funny people. HMMMMM

hey , maybe Fag Crusher !!!!!! Someone that hates Cigarettes ??

  4. Actually, Queer means Weird.

But you can't be a Weird Basher. The name is inappropriate. Send in a report to support.

ok.. Queer means odd. Who cares.. It is people that are hurt because of names that makes this world a crappy place. Does anyone remember??? Sticks and Stones will break my Bones, but Words will never Hurt me. Grow up people, and remember the stuff your parents taught you. Geeze !!!

  6. You're right.

How dare the African American race get upset over the N word.

So you think this acceptable then? If Queer Basher is fine then why not have a viking called "Nigger Basher" or "Kike Killer"? They're just words right? The problem is words DO hurt; your childish litany is what people tell each other when they know that there are small minds out there, like yours apparently, that would choose not to anything because doing the right thing means taking a stand.

they call themselves that in every movie I see. Maybe it is pronounced Neega . Not sure. Don't try to make a statement that doesn't hold water.

to slouch... words are words and we have the Right to Free Speech. If people are hurt by words than they need to look a little deeper.
That is the problem in this world... everyone is hurt by words. get over it. learn to laugh. get a joke. geeze... would have said Jesus, but someone would be pissed

  10. No one cares about your personal view on the use of words.

Where were you in the thread complaining about someone calling them a "baby rapist"?

Where do you draw the line in what is right or not to call someone?

What they call themselves is not the point; that is their right to take back ownership of the hateful words used against them for so long. What matters is there are websites and forums and discussion groups dedicated to queer bashing or queer stomping and here we have someone proudly proclaiming themselves to be one of that group.

Free speech is covered, hate speech is NOT protected. Know the law
before you try to pull it out of your ass to defend a ludicrous statement.

I do not think this name is appropriate.

In fact, I spoke to people connected to this guild and guild member and urged them to press for a name change.

They name is completely inappropriate. It makes no diff what the actual definition of the word is or ones particular stance on the subject...rather what is implied or how it is perceived.

A previous poster was correct when they said the proper way to deal with this would be thru Kano support.

Regardless of the connotations and meaning of the word queer, I am from the UK and those two words used together mean exactly what people find offensive about it.......

Is it acceptable - for me no and if the line is not drawn somewhere then where does it stop.........?

Ahhhh ......free speech...its truly a wonderful thing and one of the many wonderful things the United States of America was founded on. But if u think that our American fore fathers intended purpose was to protect individuals who use phrases like the one in question here....Well then I dont think you have the brain capacity to even comment on such a matter.

Last time I checked.... I was pretty sure this forum and the games belonged to a Canadian company...not sure whether they have similar language that governs them , None the less..........Kano has made it abundantly clear in there TOU that names of this nature r clearly a violation. Not that any normal person would have to actually look to figure that out. But just in case......scroll to the bottom of any game page and look for yourself
