Volunteering is generally considered an altruistic activity, intended to promote good or improve human quality of life, but people also volunteer for their own skill development, to meet others, to make contacts for possible employment, to have fun, and a variety of other reasons that could be considered self-serving. Volunteerism is the act of selflessly giving your life to something you believe free of pay. Although if a person volunteers they may not earn money, it produces a feeling of self-worth and volunteers earn respect and Favors instead of money.

I appreciate everyone's feedback on the perks program aspect of the thread. If you're interested in being part of the program, I encourage you to apply.

 

I sent my message in to be considered. Regardless of the fact of perks. Thats not the reason why. Myself i enjoy pirate clan out of all the kano games. And i would just like to be able to help get new ideas or improvements on a fast track to the developers quicker. I see great potential with Kano. And many players forget if you have played other games in the past. I have played many. I was one of the first players in mafia wars when it first came out. Zynga use to care about it's players and help improve the game. Now its all about money to them and if they can keep making it. And many games have gone this route. Be greatful for a group of developers still wanting to work with it's players to improve there games. Many don't care anymore.

 

And, btw, Polish has had plenty of positive feedback to offer in these forums. As YOU said, Deltan, it was before your time. Maybe you should do a little homework before making judgments about a player who has earned every battle scar the honest, legitimate way. He has more knowledge in his little finger about how this game works than most others. And he is willing to share it with those who earnestly wish to have help with their accounts.

I'm not saying he is the only one to do so, JDG, but you know he has always offered help freely. And you don't get to be #1 TWICE without knowing what you're doing.

Yep, before my time, and if he applies to be a moderator I'll definitely do some research into the contributions of every player who applies. My intentions are definitely good for the players and the community. Being a knowledgeable player is only one part of being the kind of moderator I'm looking for.

 

Fair enough, Deltan, I hope you mean that. When he was a moderator, Polish kept himself as neutral as I've ever seen him, there are just a bunch of jealous rivals, very vocal, who were unhappy that he held that position.

I think if you read his posts, you will see that for yourself.

Thank you Deltan. Even though it seems on my end that i am trying to send it by yahoo mail seems to be having problems. I was able to send it by support. So hopefully yourself. or wonder woman will be able to track it down and get it into the right spot. I did look at the link again and tried a few mins ago. Just not working with yahoo email for some reason.

 

I guess that's one way to look at it, sure. Another way to look at it might be that we're trying to start over. Create a moderation team of players who care about the community, want to see it grow in a positive direction. A proper volunteer program in any functioning community has a perks program of some variety. A small thank you for your time and contributions. I do expect that moderators we bring on will represent the policies and rules created by Kano staff, but I do encourage all volunteers to speak their opinion in an appropriate manner.

 

MOST probably won't care about the community.They just will dedicate as least time as possible,to get the in game edge and bully.And you will be helping them.I say,MOST,because I'm sure a select few won't abuse it.But alot will.

 

Really need to move past the perks thing already. You act as if I'm going to be giving out game changing quantities of points on a regular basis. This is not the case. I won't be commenting on it any further, it's a dead issue.

 

So,voicing an opinion on something I see as a concern,is a dead issue?I can see why my cousin tried so hard,and successfully,got himself banned from here.Deltan,you basically just told me to shut up.That is rude.Haven't you heard of "if you have nothing nice to say,don't say it at all?"

 

Seriously, if you are just going to make pronouncements such as an issue being dead because you can't handle the heat any longer, then this forum is a waste of time for anyone wanting a lively, educational debate free from censorship. If profanity and name calling are not involved, then you need to back off.

Otherwise, I say these forums are a dead issue. We players can always create our own forum and not invite you.

 

I guess your right...one year when i volunteered to help with the march of dimes.....I got a T-shirt and a water bottle. I was a bit disappointed i didnt get any gas money though....oh well....I guess if i truly wanted to "volunteer" i suppose i should find my own way there
