    Hello Players,
As many of you are aware, KANO/APPS brought me into the picture in order to focus on community. To hear you, the players, improve and grow the relationship between us and you. One thing every aspiring community needs is an active moderation team that cares about the place they call home. I am building a new moderation team for the forums and future community initiatives from scratch. We're looking for a few good people to stand up and be recognized!

The term "moderator" is often misused, most people associate it with a person who merely deletes messages and swings the ban hammer. This is only part of what a moderator does. A community moderator is also a guide and expert. It's a role best filled by a person who is passionate about the game they play, knowledgeable about the game, understands its depth. A moderator will enjoy helping others, they use their game expertise in order to assist fellow players. A trait of a good volunteer community moderator is someone who likes the community they are a part of and wants to help take it in new directions. The ideal candidate(s) should be relatively web savy, someone who enjoys interacting with fellow players on the forum and has a good knowledge of the game and is in good player standing (no bans).

At this time, I am soliciting people who are over the age of 18 to be moderators and preferably people who reside in North America with English as their first language. However, if you are not in North America, still consider applying! You must be comfortable signing a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and providing us with your personal information including mailing address. I plan to offer in game perks and tangible perks to players for volunteering their time in the community. The details of the moderator program are still being hashed out, more details on this will be available soon.

I'd like to encourage anyone who is passionate about the game, loves their community and feels as though they fit the criteria to apply! Please start by emailing the community team. Write a few bullets or paragraphs about yourself, brag as much as you can! Some things you might consider including: The KANO/APPS game you enjoy most, why you think you will make a good moderator, other interests you have, other games you like, impress us!

Please send your application to: moderators@kanoapps.com

"I plan to offer in game perks and tangible perks to players for volunteering their time in the community."....hmmm...that sounds a lil bit like a conflict of interest. Kano employees/volunteers getting in game perks that the average player doesnt get?

Im still waiting for my rewards that we were suppose to get for submitting our email addresses over a year ago....good to know that Kano will be taking care of their own first. WHAT A JOKE!

It appears I have to agree with Polish. That isn't fair at all.Just shows Kano is biased.Wonder what other players will think of this. You really should rethink that part.

As I said in my post, it's not final, nor set in stone. I however, see nothing wrong with the idea of tossing out credits for helping out in the community. I don't see the conflict you speak of?

ARE YOU BLIND!!!!!!! "I get special perks just because I'm a moderator" "I'm going to bully you and KANO is helping me"

Im not freaking about this or anything ....but it sounds a bit weird that essentially an employee would get something (basically an advantage)"in game" that even longtime loyal paying customers wouldnt get. Sure...we have the loyalty rewards program....but so would the moderator. Besides...at nearly 200 dollars per lack luster loyalty item....the reward program is pretty much a joke anyways. Oh well u guys know best i suppose.

lol I think you are reading way too much into it. I really don't see a difference between giving out a perk in the form of in game credits or giving someone another form of currency compensation. If they spent that currency in game, would that still be biased? No. As I said in my post though, none of this is set in stone yet. I appreciate the feedback.

  8. Really, Deltan? You don't see a conflict of interest here? Do you actually PLAY these games or are you just another talking head?

You had the BEST moderator Kano has ever seen when Polishpimpn agreed to help out. He has arguably helped more players in VC and given sound advice to more players in this forum than any other moderator I've ever seen. You want passionate players to moderate? YOU HAD ONE!!!

(HUGE SNORT OF DISGUST INSERTED HERE!)

Are you sure you don't want to rethink that one?

I used to love Mob Wars and i would of gladly did this for free. I'm helping everyone in my syndicate to learn how the game is supposed to be played anyway. After your decision to make us start over, I dont love it as much right now...

  11. Yes, JDG, I'm sure.

These are volunteers, not employees we're talking about. Just to be clear.

Nope, don't see a conflict at all. Sorry. I do play the games, but I am new to them. I still fail to see how throwing out some credits to volunteers is biased or a problem. I could throw them FB gift cards, if they spent those points in game, is that still biased? What if I paid them in american dollars and they chose to spend that in game, still biased? As I said though, it's not set in stone. Still subject to change.

polishpimp as a moderator was before my time, he is perfectly eligible to apply like everyone else. It's a fresh slate, a new chief is in town, the past is the past and I'm willing to listen to all apps. We're trying to grow the community in a positive direction and appreciate great people who want to bring people together to talk about the thing that unites us, the games! :)

Deltan, you really should proof read before posting. If you compensate someone for the time they are moderating, you are paying them, which makes them an employee.A "volunteer" is someone that does the job for free.So no,Deltan, they wouldn't be "volunteers" they would, indeed,be employees.

Volunteer? your offering them incentives in the form of credits.....that equates to real dollars/un. When I think of volunteer work I think of my trip to Haiti a little while back to build housing for the earthquake victims, This was at my expense because i wanted to do it....I VOLUNTEERED! Maybe i should go back and ask em for a t shirt ,,,eh?

I can't even believe I agree with Polish. This has got to be a first.

  17. LOL, as my two colleagues have already pointed out, "volunteer" means without compensation of any kind. And THAT I would have no problem with. Heck, if you want to pay someone to moderate, sign me up! lol BUT, I'm sure my rivals would take issue with that. And rightly so.

You are quite right, it's not intended to be a form of regular compensation, it's a perk. I feel like my words and intentions are unfortunately being misunderstood by the community. For the last time, the program is still being worked out. "Perks" may in fact boil down to nothing more than KANO/APPS shirts and stickers. If there's really this much anger towards in-game freebies, I'll re-consider the position. I still strongly disagree that it creates any sort of bias. Thanks for the input everyone.

Really deltan? The message u just sent me implied that ive never posted anything positive in nearly 900 posts....so do i expect that u would be able to see the conflict here....NOT HARDLY!

"We're trying to grow the community in a positive direction" What does this mean....that we are not to voice are disagreement with anything? So when "feedback" is asked for....u mean only if it is positive and in favor of ?
