February 3rd Developer Update - Fighting Undead BETA

We are in the process of testing a new feature for Zombie Slayer that allows you to Fight the Undead. We will be initially testing this feature out with out high level players, so any feedback you have would be appreciated.

Here is how it currently works:

Undead (Dead or Injured) Zombie Slayers will now remain on your battle list. They are clearly indicated with a tombstone icon, and a purple attack button. You now have the ability to Fight with these Undead Slayers while you are waiting for your Fight List to regenerate.

Winning against an Undead Slayer still counts for a win, however the loss is not recorded for that player. The Undead carry ZERO CASH and cannot be injured any further, i.e. they incur no lost health. Most importantly they yield much lower experience than fighting against the living.

There is a throttle in place right now, you can only Fight the Undead 25 times within a 24 hour period. This is to prevent feature abuse, and to allow us to monitor this new feature during the BETA stages.

Again feedback here would be great, the intention of this feature is to ALWAYS give you battle options. If there are any questions / bug reports, please post them here and we will do our best to answer them right away.

I like it so far... I want to know if these Undead slayers also give GP when fought (I already got mine for the day so I can´t tell), that would help out higher level slayers who need more targets to get their daily gamers.

 

Absolutely, that was another goal of this feature. You do earn GPs from fighting the Undead. We were aware it was difficult for the higher level players to earn these points, so this should be a good channel for that.

 

Thanks for the quick answer! I´ll keep it in mind if I ever run out of rivals, but it doesn´t seem to be the case yet.

 

Sorry for double-posting, but I have some doubts and curiosities:

- Why are there some players whose name shows in a dark shade of yellow, and some with their regular name? It kind of confuses me whether they´re alive or 'undead'.
- What happens regarding ambushes and retaliation? If you fight a higher level 'undead' Slayer, is he able to fight you back, or is it somehow shown on their feed that you attacked them? And what happens if they have an ambush set?
- Is there a limit, besides the 25 attack thing, on how many times to attack the same Slayer? Or does XP start decreasing after a point?
- I´m also curious about what happens when you get your 25 attacks, if the 'undead' Slayers still keep popping up, but I´ll find that out myself.

Any UNDEAD Zombie Slayer will have the tombstone icon beside their name, and will also show as (**UNDEAD**).

Ambushes and retaliation are ignored when you fight an UNDEAD player. There is also no indication added to the feed. Treat it as a silent action. The reason being, you do ZERO health damage to them, you earn ZERO cash, and limited experience. Also there are no statistics recorded to the UNDEAD player, only your account.

The regular XP decrease is still taken in to account, however attacking someone does not ADD to that count. What you can expect from attacking an UNDEAD slayer is to earn a portion of the XP you would have earned from a regular attack.

The UNDEAD will still appear on your list, however you will not be able to attack them. We will not make any changes to this until we resolve the total number of actions (still BETA on these).

As for the first question, I know what you mean with the tombstone icon, I´m just pointing this out:



In this picture, Monacho´s got his name different than Gacko or Kirsty, and they´re all 'undead' slayers. I´ve seen other slayers like that too. Is there any secret meaning to it?

 

Initial thought is that it's good

My only suggestion so far is that I think it would be easier on the eye if all the undead slayers were grouped together below the 'alive' players.

 

I like it it's a good way to get gamer points when there is little or no fight list.

@malific : no there is nothing special about that user. the alternating row color was making it appear brighter than it really was. We just pushed an update that eliminates the alternating row color for the UNDEAD, they should all look identical now.

@MOJO1916 : I am not entirely sure that I understand the question, is the issue that you still do not have anyone on your Fight List?

would be nice if we can get 2 fight pages, one for the alive and one for the undead, iv exsausted my attacks for today and my fight board is starting to clog up with undead..

My only suggestion would be to group the undead at the bottom of the fightlist rather than mixing them all together.

 

Why does this message pop up occasionally? This Slayer is no longer Undead?

For some players who are online, I could see they have healed and are back among the living, but it has happened on players who are offline. Is there a limit to how many people can attack them?

 

I like it. No more stalking to find someone to attack to collect the GP. Besides with so few people in my range to attack it's not like I was ever going to get some of the fight achievements .

I also like that it doesn't give the full xp reward or count towards our wins. That should keep any abuse down.

 

Be calm fool! I was just making some constructive criticism in this thread, we have the other thread to listen to you whine. Have you missed taking some pills or something?

Back on topic, I like the undead thing more and more. I can hospitalise myself now (by attacking the undead) after I heal up and find nobody to attack and nobody on my rival list alive. Saves me getting an unnecessary whooping!

 

THIS!!! There is no one to attack, everyone is dead. My entire fight list is purple :/ I understand the need for this, but this takes all the fun out of fighting.
