[LCN] Arena Format and Schedule Change Effective February 4

    Participation is great, obviously, but the BA has gone from one unhappy extreme to another. A middle ground might suit more people.

    What is the point of defense mode now? It doesn't help your score in any way, so it's only useful for hurting other players. That is the kind of complete turn-around that is rather ridiculous. Something that mostly determined your score in BA suddenly became totally useless.

    The only effect is that it makes BA take longer to end.

    Your defense is still used in the daily game, so it is not a waste. To sit in def mode after doing 100 attacks,for an event that happened every two weeks,was a joke.

    I agree that it was a joke. But it is still a joke. A player can do the exact same thing now, he just won't place highly, but rather draw out the event.

    So what is the point of still having def mode in BA when you can pretty much only use it for griefing?

    I dont like it too much anymore i used to level, get health high and be able to sleep during defense mode, or wake up dead and be able to place decent, but now that i didnt spend loads last nite i know i wont finish very good and thats what I dont like about it. If you dont spend alot on it there is no way to place decent anymore. Should have 2 BA"S the new one and the old way.

    i do have a question. is it even worth it to spend points on defense? it seems to me that there are a number of attack heavy accounts, and defense doesn't compensate.

    yeah I ca see your point, ,but the first of the recent changes was to make the BA last three days,at least that was tweaked to last 24 hours, in one of the arena's on FB maybe even two,they could last close to 24 hours at times, back when it was easier for friends chose who would win.

    You probably lose more health if you have low defense and you are a better target.

    maybe. but if a heavy hitter is going after you, it doesn't even matter if you're in defensive stance anymore. and it doesn't seem to make much of a difference in the regular game, either.

    Everything makes a difference in the games, health , attack , defense,crafting,adventure drops,boss drops. The daily game is where it is at ,anyway,not some event every two weeks, at least IMO.

    i know. i never allocated stats for the arenas, raids, wars, etc. my point is if i have a choice, should i build up attack or defense?

    Everyone has their own ideas ,depends on your goal, I tend to want to be balanced, or almost balanced, a bit more defense than attack, and don't forget health.

    i try to be balanced as well, but it does seem that attack is worth more than defense.

    well my thing is if its all about points and the end placement means nothing, the sudden death is a waste basically giving free xp to lvl for the big spenders in the end, I am not seeing the purpose anymore you can bank all your points before sudden death and place very good but what about the person who rides it all the way out and is 1st and what if they have only a 10th of the points they wont place very well, which to me is a upset we all learned the ba the way it was, set up toon to it, making use of our own strategy to try and win the ba, the old way you did need to have high health, a few was able to ride it out, but now it will be the spenders who will will and that to me is not a battle arena its a pay arena, sorry kano bad choice on the ba. I for one will not participate or sign up anymore even tho the bonus xp for signing up is nice wont do it no more have fun with ba not my cup of tea

    The old BA was a joke...... doing nothing except allocating to defense and being rewarded was NOT the idea behind playing BA. BA is about being active and finding a way to give lower levels a better chance to fight higher levels by the perks and making skill allocation change the balance a little more than you see in the regular game. However, now BA is all about who can do the most attacks. Max Stamina matters BUT can be offset by someone who can afford to do more refills. And people who are still sitting in Defense Mode now no longer get rewarded by just staying alive longer but simply slow the game down. A feature I would like to see is like every 15 minutes a pop up that asks "Do you still want to stay in Defense Mode?" If a player fails to answer within a set amount of time, Defense Mode would disable. It would not solve the problem 100% but it would at least limit people from just going into Defense Mode and then leaving. Once a player stops playing and goes into defense mode, they no longer score points and there is no reason to delay the game. Also, points for attacks against a person in defense mode should not be lower - a person is already losing a ton of health when attacking someone in defense mode, but a player should not also be punished for continuing to play and be active against defense mode players. The points encourage active players to continue to work on the defense mode players regardless of the health loss from the defense mode.

    Now, on the flip side, I do think surviving longer than other mobsters should matter and be rewarded points for where a person goes out.... but then again, there needs to be a way that makes a player at least attempt to be active and not hide in defense mode all night. First, remove the 5 minute penalty. A person should be able to try and jump in and out of defense mode without penalty if attacks matter. A person should not be FORCED to hide the entire 2nd half when a bigger, stronger player is waiting on them and tapping them off and on looking for a chance to kill them. But if that person could have the chance to sneak out and play before having to hide again, it would give a player more opportunity and incentive to try and be more active with attacks without losing defense mode time and a disadvantage to trying to play. Since DEFENSE should matter, a person should receive some points when attacked and they WIN those attacks, in DEFENSE MODE or not.

    These ideas may not be perfect BUT I am pretty sure they would help bring BA into better balance for both the DEFENSE allocated players who are active and for the ATTACK and/or STAMINA players who also are very active.

    So, now mess with defensive oriented players more for arena?
    How about defense players sp's allocated beat your attack next? :eek:

    PS: You don't receive points defending, only attacking :p

    You should pay more attention when reading to the little details..... my 5th grader learns this in school. I realize a person does NOT receive points when attacked only when attacking..... but to make DEFENSE matter more, my suggestion was to give a player who is attacked points IF they win the fight. And removing the 5 minute penalty again only helps DEFENSIVE players as going in and out of DEFENSE MODE would not hurt them as their DEFENSE MODE TIME would not be reduced when trying to come out of DEFENSE MODE to play. Hence, your comment "So, now mess with defensive oriented players more for arena?" was not valid as my suggestions that you commented on were to benefit DEFENSIVE players.

    Also, keep in mind, I am not sure this thread is for all of BA's on all platforms or specific for Kong LCN. I have no idea how BA works on the other platforms and what changes would benefit other games where BA is played. I only play Kong LCN and in my opinion these types of changes would benefit Kong LCN.

    Just wanted to chime in, I tried the new BA just once in both apps PC and MW's and it will b my last :( I have always spent in the ba, but because I wanted to, NOT because I had to in order to place well, people call Def Mode ~ hiders, and some yes, I have a high Def which I do use in BA, when I'm gonna die is 3.5 seconds....then the strategy for me is sneak out and kill them b 4 they kill me...cat and mouse game and it was fun.... I managed to get killed 2nd in one, but because of not spending as much as others did...I am penalized...I did a fair amount of atts, but with the scheduling of the BA's on the same day, I either have to choose to lvl in one , or skip lvlin and play BA, thats where Def Mode comes into play, I can lvl and rejoin BA when I am threw, but by that time atts are limited to me... (if I do choose to spend).... but regardless....Bonus points for where you get killed would b a great addition!!

    As of now its just a spenders BA imo...no strategy what so ever, except refill fp's :( I have done many of refills as well...to get kills... not for mindless attacking. also seems there are many bots/programs being used...I cant compete with those!!

    also Not a 100 atts and go into Def Mode player, which is also a problem, but Kano went from 1 extreme to another...so as of now I wont b participating :( makes me sad, they were a lot of fun :(
