It is about 2 hours before the arena (i think), as im posting this. So any thoughts on how it will go? Im gonna share my thoughts on it anyways, i think that it will mostly be the same, mostly inactive people with a few active people competing in it.

I could really care less... I did rank almost 100 spots higher than the last one...

During the Battle Arena you gained 0 XP!

    Attacks 0
    Kills 0
    Wins: 81
    Losses 784
    Biggest Attack 1,249,265 damage
    Status: Dead

So much for higher level players not going after lower level inactives

    Attacks 16,317
    Kills 18
    Wins 14,903
    Losses 1,438
    Biggest Attack 2,405,841 damage

Really enjoyed the show again guys brilliant platform.. Just getting a bit too war gam-e-fied tho.. In my opinion, certain high level users are banding together forming cliques, which for me is contrary to the spirit of the game.. Maybe a rename is in order.. Call it something like Guild Wars 2 perhaps!

As a mid range lvl participant 4k+ Once I get found, going into DS only prolongs the inevitable.. Within an hour and a half I'm out and that's it. I've been tagged and saved. This is an ongoing recurring theme happening over and over which is a total spoiler for me.

In the last 5 arena battles it's always been one of the top 3 (always high level) that has taken me out..It doesn't even matter if I've 2,3 or 5 billion health left.
It can also happen even if there are still 1300 users still participating. This is not a simple snipe kill factor.

Tactically I can only assume the following happens....

Hypothetically as a 'top gun' user I'm looking to maximize my xp accrual. I'm not bothered about losing 1 battle in 10 since my superior arms, health rating and damage keeps me well within my comfort zone. Besides this users kill reward will more than offset any limited damage sustained. I'll just pick the lowers up as and when!!

As the game evolves so do the tactics. It's gone from flicking through the rivals lists, taking out the trash, to targeting specific user types. I don't really care because I know like last time and the time b4 that etc I'm going to finish well into single figures..Yawn!!

The experience for me is now so predictable I'm reduced to getting up as many levels as possible as quickly as. Burn stam, burn some more stam period.. I know as soon as I'm located bang that's it - game over! Worst of all your own kill reward, irrespective of whether you've identified yourself or not, kinda gives the game away since there is no random element to it.

Worse still, evolving tactics now see roving high level characters banding. How do I know???? Easy, within a minute of an obvious snipe 3/4 attackers zoom in like a bunch of laughing hyenas.. Funnily enough down to the last 3 and still no conclusion to this arena. Bizarrely, some of the 4 that took turns whacking me out of this event are still active. Probably not even laid a finger on each other for the past 24 hours!!

The fact is I would advocate the saving of targets be omitted from the game entirely. If it's the wrong arena for you in terms of start time fair enough... Catch the next one.. But to give tactics a chance to flourish the facility should be dismantled permanently. It is now a complete waste of time having the defensive stance option if you've been saved for termination, sorry execution! At least (if the saved target option no longer exists) once DS is activated they'll have to move on. It may not change the eventual outcome but at least it will stop the wolf packs swooping in at will!!

Whilst I'm unsure this piece will strike a chord or resonate well with some c.c leaders, the fact remains glaring inadequacies still exist in this present format. Dev's over to you..

Actually had my best finish yet in VC
    Attacks 7,292
    Kills 10
    Wins 5,915
    Losses 1,961
    Biggest Attack 2,082,427 damage
    Status: Dead
    Rank: 109
Pimp got me as I was working someone down to get health
    Well Pimp and Larry
But I am very happy with my finish, took on a couple high levels who were inactive and beat them down, till some one stole the kill,
Well thats the thoughts of the WINGMAN

Great arena!. Thanks to Kano who fixed the battle list refreshing issue there were far fewer kills sniped in the beginning and way more active players still playing late into the game and ranking higher. TY KANO!

The arena was not 100% glitch free though, both JJ and I had large amounts of health deducted from ourtotals at least one time each. Both times it seemed it was just a minute or two after we received a kill reward a similar amount was deducted from are health total. In my case it was over 2oo m and in JJs it was over 300 m. Neither of us was being attacked nor attacking anyone at the time and we literally just watched the health go poof into thin air. Its not exactly something someone can screen shot either. Obviously it wasnt the end of the world as we were doing pretty well at the time but what if we hadnt been?

Maybe if you keep finishing in the top ranks for quite some time without enough of a break from it,maybe there's a health tax now to attempt to give other's a shot at it :)

Nice to see some replies. I did better then i thought i would do, considering when i got off i only had around 760 million health, i was expecting to be knocked out fast with that little health that late in the arena, but i ended up ranking 5th. It seems like there was ALOT more active players this time then there was last time, i dont know if i was the only one to notice that.

    Banding together

You are totally correct there are players that band together. So what? I think its good strategy. I did it once and finished 3rd. Had a blast. Instead of complaining, adjust to the strategy and battle on. I.E. form your own group. I have not done it since for a variety of reasons. One being I am not gonna get up at 3AM my time to play a game. If you want to do that, more power to you. Just not that important to me. THIS IS NOT REAL. Its pixels. I usually enter everyone. I battle a bit. Get my points and when I am eliminated I move on. I am a prime target for these hunter/killers cause my health reward is one of the highest around. So what?

BTW I thought that we were told that we should stop using insulting Guild Mottos. Imagine my shock when I saw this morning. "Red Rover, Red Rover, Let the Bunny, Come Over!!!!!" . The Bunny is what the members of one faction use to insult a high level rival. I know I will be told to report this in private etc. But, I wanted it out in Public. Now I await an unbiased moderator to close the thread. Dont the standards apply equally to everyone?

Its refreshing to see that someone gets it. The arena is not just any one thing such as "banding together", its much much more. It would be very interesting to see how many of the players who regularly complain about particular aspects, strategies and players in the arena...would actually have the "right stuff" to play for 10-16 hrs straight, join and and stay true to a group, spend the stamina or click in excess of a hundred thousands times in a row. There are reasons why some players win or do better more often and in many cases they are of a higher level....These players are often the most dedicated in the game. Players shouldnt knock something or someone simply because they have more time to dedicate or spent more time building strong alliances, etc etc . The arena is what it is and making it easy to win would just be pointless.

Ya, it is a good strategy to be in a group, that way if one of you start getting low on health, you can have a friend kill you. People who complain about others forming groups can go make there own group and see how fun and easy that makes the arena, and maybe they will stop complaining then.

Yep think some users are completely missing the point here.... The object of the exercise was not to denigrate specific individuals parse, but to highlight the inadequacies of the battle arena in a generic fashion... I've still yet to hear a persuave comment to the contrary.. Yes i'm quite sure I could band together with some of the top guilds, (I have enough friends) among them, but am more inclined to prep new starters for the challenges ahead rather than get a group together for what should be an individual pursuit (after all we have to start somewhere).. To even consider asking this thread to be removed is an admission that c.c holders are all that matters..It's not like I've seen any swear words ....Over to you!!!!

I believe "free for all" was the words Kano used to describe the arena. I Take that as do anything and everything u can to do well...as long as its within the rules. So whether its a team effort, a solo act or a combination of both its all good as long as your having fun and playing legit. Its unfortunate that some want to change the arena to tailor it to their time frame , lifestyle or style of play and then complain because its not and it inevitably fits into someone elses life better.

I don't particularly want to change the rules so much, as to give others the opportunity to participate on an equal footing.. If that seems misplaced then I Apologize.. This is my viewpoint... 'I've been playing VC for four months, I'm really enjoying it.. I have put my time in eight hours/day (it's like a second job to me) to get up to level1250.. I'm really proud of myself for getting this far i'm really looking forward to what lies ahead.. I've stopped up all night for the battle arena... Sadly i'm exposed to wolf packs hunting me down.. They have descended and last two minutes in the game have proven to me that this platform is unfair'.. In my opinion the VC graveyard is full of users around that level! Again completely missing the point.. Next..

Well...thats where your wrong, it is 100% fair as every last one of us have the same opportunity as the next. The simple fact that you have either not figured out or are simply choosing not to employ the strategies that would help you in situations such as you have described does not make it unfair.

These games are social networking games...they are designed to both promote social networking and to reward it. Heck...even the names imply it (viking clan), pirate clan mafia wars) . It doesnt take much to figure out that the more clan one has the better off u are in nearly every aspect of these games. Kano has even gone as far as to recommend communicating and teaming up in the tips and strategies section of the arena help page.

You seem to be dedicated player and I commend u on the success youve achieved and deserve going forward, but I also think its important to remind you that the arena is basically a supplement to the regular game. What works well in the game as far as build and or strategy isnt necessarily whats best for the arena , perhaps you need to figure out whats more important to you and focus one way or the other. With that said your still a fairly low leveled player with limited playing experience....in time you will discover lil things that will make a big difference throughout the games. Its not just about the numbers... even more importantly its about the people you Allie with and those that you choose to make rivals.

As a level 1250 you are fairly low level in the arena....why on earth would a team need or even want to go after you? Your numbers cant be all that attractive and I cant imagine your a tough kill at that level. Perhaps its just coincidence ....active players become targets very quickly especially if they're sniping kills which I would imagine your doing as its really the only way for a lower level to survive. Maybe u have a decent kill reward to health ratio...thats gonna put u on a lot of players radar as well and be totally on you. Active lower level players also tend to get their health very low trying to take others down...this too is like hanging a sign around your neck saying come and get me.

You can say u dont want to change the rules...but by stating that u think its unfair begs to differ unless of course u like unfair, which I just dont see as the case as were having this discussion. My advice to you is to keep plugging along and adapt to the game.....not to try and have it adapt to you. Good luck.

I think we will have to agree to disagree on this subject... For me the Arena is now simply an extension of the war game format.. Similar results each time mostly the same users on top... I really felt after Arena 1 we had something different.. Seemed fresh and exciting to participate in.. I'm just concerned mistakes of the past have remained intact..Besides the definition of 'free for all' is

A disorderly fight, argument, or competition in which everyone present participates..... Disorderly being the operative phrasing in this context. Not a systematically organised group of users working together... Well that's my take on the wording at any rate!

In sum, I have grave concerns and misgivings re: the direction the Arena battle has taken.
As has been cogently pointed out by fellow members, it's all about your preferred style of play and social networking. I duly concede these points as they are important aspects of the game..

However, ultimately the success of the competition will be assessed on both its active participation and whether those who choose to be involved - credit purchase..

Irrespective of how we (which is only a small sample size) feel in terms of 'banding' the game will rest on it's ability to demonstrate fair play and equality. It could be that bonding with others forging alliances is just that. Time will be our judge and jury, but to date I have seen scant evidence of the developers original aim, which was for lower level actives, grouping together and expending vast resources 'taking out the big guns'.

I earlier made the point that the defensive stance mechanism could not be employed as a worthwhile meaningful tactic, that once located and tagged - game over. This is true to an extent.

Independent self styled solo player types have a very small probability of reaching a top finishing position. It's now employed solely as a pause facility, a chance to get my mates to attack your mates and vice-versa... If that is the case there should be a randomized feature introduced allowing for constructive networking throughout. Not just with your guild affiliations or in-game buddies.

Don't just make the arena based on the the notion of the individual (which clearly it isn't), but tailor it to a guild format. A structure which would see a high level ranking user allied to others around him/herself with various other level player types. If there is enough variety throughout the competition this would work very well. You wouldn't for instance necessarily have the same users over and over in the winners enclosure.

In my opinion like the War game itself, which the devs generally acknowledge to be too heavily weighted/loaded in favor of the higher levels, something has to give. For the present I agree with Kayjay. I cannot see the point in signing up for something where I have no intention of participating. The free xp on offer is only the equivalent to a couple of challenge help pick ups at any rate. Besides my inclusion would only give others the opportunity to level up at my expense..
