[EDIT #2] After a significant amount of feedback from players in all 4 games about these proposed changes, we're going to leave the event schedule as-is for the month of September (I.E. the changes suggested in the OP will not be happening.)

It sounds like moving these events would cause issues for players who play multiple games, and wouldn't go far enough to solve people's concerns about fatigue when playing the current volume of events. We'll look for other solutions to try and address that for now. Thank you to everyone who chimed in and helped us make the call not to pull the trigger on this next month!

[EDITED FOR CLARITY] None of the events have changed per se, it's just that we've moved them around to avoid overlapping and broken some events up between games, so PC doesn't have a calendar or sale at the same time as VC, LCN or ZS.

Hey there, captains! Big news about the schedule of events coming up.

When the current event schedule was set up, we tried to organize it so that there weren't too many events happening at the same time. However, this got a bit more difficult when raids were added a few years ago.

Over the past few months we've been surveying players via pop-ups in-game, and measuring how much players participate in events running at different times. One of the concerns we heard from you was that there are too many events at the same time, and it gets tiring doing everything at once. At the same time, people like how many different types of gameplay there are, and so we didn't want to drop any events at least for now.

As a compromise, we've worked out a couple of changes to the events schedule that should help spread things out. These changes will also let us create some exciting new themes for calendars and keep things fresh for players who play more than one Kano game. Here's how it'd look for September:

    Sept. 6-7 - Battle Arena
    Sept. 8-10 - Weekend Calendar
    Sept. 8-12 - Armada War
    Sept. 14-18 - Raid
    Sept. 18-22 - Weekday Calendar
    Sept. 20-21 - Battle Arena
    Sept. 22-26 - Armada War
    Sept. 25-27 - Sale

This is the first time we've made a large change to event scheduling in quite a while, so we're very interested in hearing your feedback and seeing how things go over the next month. Many of the other changes we're working on are more technically complex, so we thought it'd help solve some of the concerns we’ve heard while we work on larger projects like crafting and game balance. We have more background on why we made these changes as well, so if you’re curious just let us know and I’ll share that here as well.

Thanks for reading, and please let us know what you think!

We'll have to try it out & see how it goes. Looks like everything is now condensed into one week's worth of excitement, followed by a week of break, & so forth.

If I am reading this correctly, looks like you are still doing two big events at the same time requiring a lot of resources. I don't see how this schedule is relieving anything.

Good to see you're considering this and I hope it improves the situation a bit. You should keep in mind many players are active in more than one Kano game. In my case, it's "only" VC and PC, though that's also more than enough for me with each of them getting ever more click-heavy. There's some extremely busy days when there's special events in both PC and VC at the same time. It must be even harder for those that play 3 or 4 of the games.

Could you do something to make the calendars less click-demanding/repetitive? Having to be available to the games many times per day does interfere with real life and makes it tempting to cut down or give up the games. You want real people playing them, not bots, right?

Also, in general I wish you'd take a look at the games to reduce clicking. For example, I now have 5 or 6 times as much stamina as 2 years ago, but I can still only spend the same amount at a time. That means a lot more clicking.

The events will not be running at the same time, those dates cover the whole week. We can add specific dates to the opening post for clarity.

Honestly, the Raids, Battle Arena and Armada Wars are all resource suckers. If you put the Battle Arena and Armada Wars to only once a month like the Raids, it would be better. The game is so time consuming and your scheduling isn't going to really help there.

specific dates would be good to see the exact layout for how things are going to be. For me i plan my boosts accordingly depending on the upcoming events so i keep fp spending to a minimum until raids come around.

Exactly, except one of the rest weeks has a raid, one of the highest engagement events. We figure this should give people some breathing room within the month and between raids while also making it easier to participate in multiple events (BA, Wars.)

Hopefully my edit to the OP helps clarify things; no events should be running at the same time except some BAs or Armada Wars during calendars.

@Malta thanks for the feedback! We did get some concerns about running the VC and ZS Battle Arenas at the same time, this week we're looking into possibly shifting one of those Battle Arenas to another point in the week that won't interfere. There will be times when a raid in one game is happening at the same time as an event in another game, or something like that, but with 4 games we are doing our best to space things out. Re: the calendars and clicking in general, we do want to make clicking less necessary; if you have specific ideas about places it'd be good to be able to spend chunks of stamina, I'd love to hear about them. For the calendars, part of the fun is supposed to be waiting for a free key to reveal a new section, or saving FP to do it all at once. I'd be interested in hearing suggestions for how we could make this less taxing to participate in; maybe we could run longer term calendars with more time to claim each key. What do you think a good interval would be?

@Tillie I hear you and at the same time many players tell us they love the frequency of events. I suspect there is a middle ground but it's hard to justify shutting some events down during the month when so many players still do them. Maybe we could change it up so one of the events offers better rewards than the other, so there's less of a need to do both to be competitive... What do you think?

That's good feedback too, @King of Comebacks. I'll check the data on raids, BA and Armada War on which ones seem to be the most intense. It makes sense that being in the game already makes calendars easier, but at the same time many players open tons of events during raids, so that might make it hard to find time to do calendars. Right now the calendars will fall during BAs and Armada Wars but not raids, and we could also look at changing that up for a future month.

@drrobert1 - the schedule for Armada Wars isn't changing, so there will be one on Aug. 25th and the next one after that will be Sept. 8th. Sorry, I know my original post wasn't super clear.

@john greene I hate to disappoint you. To be honest, I don't think we'll have a new location for PC as early as September. We are working on a bunch of stuff right now including locations for other games that haven't had one in a longer time. I know PC's last location came out in April and we said six months between; we're aiming for November right now but it might be a bit earlier if we can swing it.

There will not be a new Location for Pirate Clan this year, but we do have a little something coming up in lieu of that. ;)
